The Family Liaison Office (FLO) serves USG employees and their family members assigned to, serving at, or returning from a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad. Our mission is to improve their quality of life by identifying issues and advocating for programs and solutions, providing a variety of client services, and extending services to our overseas communities by managing the worldwide Community Liaison Office program. Our major areas of interest are Education and Youth, Family Member Employment, and Support Services for those experiencing a personal or post crisis. We deliver services in these areas through individual counseling, training and presentations, publications, and the CLO program.
Director Develops FLO's advocacy agenda and represents the concerns of Foreign Service families to senior managers in the Department of State and outside organizations.
Deputy Director Manages the program, financial and administrative operations of the office and supervises office personnel.
CLO Program Officer Manages the CLO program at 200 posts, providing operational and program support to CLO Coordinators.
CLO Program Assistant/Receptionist Assists visitors and callers to the office and provides administrative support to the CLO Program Officer.
Education and Youth Officer Provides information and resources on education options and develops programs on education and transition issues.
Program Assistant Assist clients who need information in the areas of crisis management or education and youth.
Crisis Management and Support Officer Provides guidance and referrals on adoptions, eldercare, divorce and other personal difficulties, and supports contingency planning and post evacuations.
Program Specialist for Unaccompanied Tours Provides support, guidance, resources and assistance to employees and family members separated by service at unaccompanied posts.
Communications and Publications Coordinator Manages the FLO Web sites, publishes the FLO-CLO Connection and FS Direct, and coordinates FLO outreach activities.
Naturalization Program Specialist Provides information and referral on the naturalization process to Foreign Service employees and their foreign born spouses.
Employment Program Coordinator Advocates for family member employment, provides advice and guidance on Federal employment considerations, and coordinates the bilateral work agreement portfolio.
SNAP/GEI Program Coordinator Advises family members on overseas employment and non-governmental employment, networks with multinational corporations, and publishes Global Employment Connections, a newsletter on overseas employment options.
SNAP Program Assistant Provides administrative assistance and support for the Strategic Networking Assistance Program (SNAP).
Employment Program Specialist Advises family members on overseas employment options and coordinates the domestic Job Seekers Networking Group and FLO's employment orientation sessions.
Employment and Training Advisor Assists clients with general information on family member employment, supports FLO's employment programs, manages the enrollment of spouses in functional training classes and coordinates The Network.
Employment Reports Coordinator Develops reporting mechanisms to support FLO programs and serves as the FAMER adminstrator.
Executive Assistant Provides administrative support to the Director and the Deputy Director and serves as general office manager.
