The Alliance Mission
Board of Directors >

Our mission is to promote responsible exploration, development and production of oil, gas and mineral resources for the benefit of Alaskans.

The Alliance Purpose

The Alliance serves as a voice for the oil and gas support sector by conveying industry concerns and positions to many audiences, including elected officials and regulatory agencies, the general public and oil, gas and mineral producers.

Our Goals

  • Foster and promote a competitive business climate through strong government relations programs.
  • Improve public understanding of the relationships among political decisions, industry activity and Alaska's economic health.
  • Provide members with a competitive edge through exclusive benefits.
  • Ensure a trained and skilled Alaskan workforce through participation in educational programs.

The Alliance's History

Founded in 1979, the Alaska Support Industry Alliance represents companies and organizations that provide goods and services for Alaska’s oil, gas and mineral industries. Our 400 members provide more than 30,000 Alaskan jobs, and they include oil field service companies and suppliers, transportation companies, wholesale and retail businesses, professional firms and individuals.

The Alliance advocates the safe and environmentally responsible exploration, development and production of Alaska’s oil, gas and mineral resources and works to promote a competitive investment climate in the state through a variety of grassroots, public awareness and government relations programs.

Activities include the annual Meet Alaska conference and trade show in Anchorage, Alaska’s premier energy conference; networking breakfast and lunch forums in Anchorage, Kenai and Fairbanks; publication of the annual Alaska Oil & Gas Directory in conjunction with the Alaska Association of Professional Landmen; an annual Juneau fly-in and direct lobbying on industry issues, and various recreational networking opportunities ranging from golf tournaments to a fishing invitational.

The Alliance is a 501(c)(6) trade association and has chapters in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Kenai.

We are the voice for balance among energy, the economy and the environment

The Alaska oil and gas industry has changed dramatically since 1979. Thanks to innovations from the businesses this trade organization represents, exploration and development now leaves a much smaller footprint on the environment. Oilfield productivity has increased due to the industry’s technological advancements. And while future developments in Alaska look promising, the worldwide market has become extremely competitive. We are oilfield service companies, transportation enterprises, wholesale and retail businesses, professional firms and private citizens. Striking the right balance among the nation’s energy needs, the state’s economic health, and protection of Alaska’s environment is the Alliance’s calling.

It is crucial this organization conveys support business concerns to their clients, the producing companies. While our philosophy often compliments that of oil and gas producers, we do not always agree. Support industry businesses are primarily owned and operated by Alaskans, unlike most producer companies. This can, and has, created different views on legislation when it comes to business practices that involve Alaska hire.

Information is power, which is why the Alliance keeps its membership aware of industry trends, important issues and networking opportunities.

The oil & gas industry will continue to evolve in Alaska and around the globe, and the Alliance will continue its advocacy for the best interests of its members.
