EstuaryLive Telecast

Nearly 20,000 students in 37 states and the island of Aruba participated in last week’s EstuaryLive, the annual interactive live “field trip” to some of NOAA’s National Estuarine Research Reserves and EPA’s National Estuary Program sites around the country. The number of participants was nearly as high as last year in spite of the fact that the 2006 broadcast took place on just one day instead of two and included fewer sites. Of the 489 teachers who registered their classes to participate (compared with 476 last year), 65 were repeat participants. EstuaryLive is a partnership between the National Estuarine Research Reserve System and the Environmental Protection Agency. For more information, see www.estuaries.gov
