History:

St. James is the newest iNorth Carolinaorporated township (1999) in Brunswick County. 1985 brought the initial site preparation and construction. In 1991 the first residential homes were built and the first golf course, The Gauntlet, was completed, with the Gauntlet Clubhouse opening the following year. In 1992 the Chapel was erected. 1995 to 1999 brought a flurry of construction. The Beach Club and the second golf course, The Members Club, iNorth Carolinaluding a clubhouse fitness center, indoor swimming pool and two state of the art tennis facilities and the third golf course, The Players Club, were completed. In 1999, the town of St. James was iNorth Carolinaorporated. Finally in 2000 the private St. James Marina opened.
