Seward Kayaking from Fox Island

Experience our Fox Island wilderness retreat, one of the world's finest sea kayaking locations. Located at the entrance to Resurrection Bay, 14 ocean miles from Seward, Fox Island is a magical mix of temperate rain forest, sculpted cliffs, protected coves and long pebbled beaches. The surrounding waters have abundant marine life including sea lions, sea otters and whales. Peregrine falcons, bald eagles and puffins fly the sky above. Sunny Cove Sea Kayaking, working with Kenai Fjords Tours, offers you several ways to experience Fox Island and the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge.

 

Fox Island Sea Kayaking and Wildlife Cruise Combinations:

Our exclusive & unique day tours allow you to experience a 1/2 day of sea kayaking and a 1/2 day wildlife cruise of Resurrection Bay, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Add an included salmon buffet and you have what we call a perfect day. Secluded coves, bold sea stack formations and waters teeming with wildlife await you. Prior kayak experience is not necessary. Our professional guides make learning how to paddle a sea kayak fun. This combo is offered twice daily by Sunny Cove & Kenai Fjords Tours and departs from Seward Small Boat Harbor.

The 9AM to 5 PM tour includes: morning wildlife cruise to Fox Island, 3 hours of sea kayaking, salmon bake lunch, and a Kenai Fjords narrated wildlife cruise.

Schedule:

• Boat transfer to Fox Island departing at 9AM
• Kayak outfitting and instruction

The 12 to 9:30 PM Tour includes: afternoon cruise to Fox Island, salmon bake lunch and dinner, sea kayaking instruction and wilderness paddle (approx. 4 hrs.) and a Kenai Fjords Tours narrated wildlife cruise. The kayaking portion of this tour is available for guests staying at the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge.

Fox Island Sea Kayaking Day Trip. 9AM - 6:30 PM:

This adventure is designed for the active traveler. No sea kayaking experience is necessary, but you must be in reasonably good shape. This is an active tour that may involve up to 13 miles of paddling.

Fox Island is a magical mix of temperate rain forest, sculpted cliffs and protected coves. The waters teem with sea lions, otters and whales; while puffins, eagles and cormorants soar above. Join us as we explore the Fox Island coastline, paddling past arches and sea stacks, along sheer ocean cliffs. If conditions permit, we'll circumnavigate Fox Island. If not, the Fox Island Spit and waterfalls and salmon streams of Humpy Cove will provide us with protected waters to explore by sea kayak. Along the way we'll stop to stretch our legs and have lunch on a remote cobblestone beach. Upon completion of our paddle, a grilled salmon bake dinner awaits us at the Fox Island Day Lodge.
