To connect to the Internet via SDSL, a special SDSL Modem is required.  The SDSL modem  connects the telephone line to the either a router or directly to a computer.  It is used to convert the digital signals from the telephone exchange into a format that the computer  understands.

SDSL Modems can normally be rented from the Internet Server Provider (ISP) that provides the broadband Internet access.  Alternatively, they can be purchased from various vendors.
