Welcome to iPod ground control.

Think of iTunes as home base for all things iPod. A handy summary page gives you complete control over what’s on your iPod — from content to syncing to software updates.

At-a-glance iPod

Visit the iPod summary page for a quick snapshot of your iPod, including its name, size, and serial number. Then browse the handy tabbed interface to see exactly what’s on your iPod. Find out how much space you have left for movies. Or what TV shows you’d like to sync next. (The 10 most recent unwatched ones, maybe?) Whatever you want to know about your iPod, iTunes has the answer.

Software spot

iTunes makes it one-click easy to update the software on your iPod. The iPod summary page features a built-in software version tracker and updater. If you’re software’s out of date, click once to update it. You can even restore your iPod to its original settings with one click.

iPod options

Keep your options open

You can change a few iPod options from the comfort of the iPod summary page in iTunes. Choose to open iTunes when you connect an iPod to your computer. Enable disk use on your iPod and use it as a hard drive to store files. Or change your syncing preferences to sync only checked items or to let you manually manage your content.

Capacity Graph

Space is the place

Not only can you see what’s taking up space on your iPod, you can also allocate capacity to specific types of content. Store more music than video. Leave more room for your vacation photos. Free up some space for data. Hit “Apply” and your iPod remembers.
