:: ANSWERS
  1. What does 808NetFone offer that my current phone service doesn't?
808NetFone service gives you all the standard phone features that you've come to expect and some new ones that may not be offered by your traditional phone service:

    • the ability to call anyone, anytime, anywhere in the United States as much as you want for one low monthly price
    • a rich set of calling features, such as Call Waiting, Caller ID, Call Forwarding, & Voicemail (including regular phone access and emailing of voice messages!)
    • the convenience of one bill for local and long-distance service
    • a web site to manage your phone service and call features
    • email notification - once you receive a voicemail, you will get an email notification sent to your email to let you know about the message.

  2. Can I keep my current phone number?
When purchasing services from 808NetFone, many customers like to retain their telephone number. There are three types of numbers that a customer cannot retain without additional effort on behalf of the current service provider. If you have a number in one of these categories, please work with your current service provider to ensure that the number can be "ported" (transferred) to 808NetFone.

    1. Numbers with Distinctive Ring are not transferrable. These numbers are "virtual numbers" that are assigned to the same line as the main number. To transfer the number, the customer must contact their current service provider and have them build the number as a business or residential line prior to requesting the transfer of the number to 808NetFone.
    2. Maintenance Numbers are not transferrable. These numbers must be disconnected from the current service provider at the same time that the order is submitted to 808NetFone for the transfer. If this number is not disconnected and left with the current service provider, the service provider will generally turn this number into a business line and charge the customer for the business line rate.
    3. RCF (Remote Call Forward) are not transferrable. This type of numbers are also a virtual number that is not a physical line. To transfer the number, the customer must contact their current service provider and have them build the number as a business or residential line prior to requesting the transfer of the number to 808NetFone.
    4. DSL Numbers if the number you are requesting to port in is currently your DSL service number, you will lose your DSL connection with your Carrier.

  3. Who can get 808NetFone?
Anyone with a high-speed Internet connection, such as DSL or cable, can get 808NetFone service.

  4. Who should I call if I experience problems with my 808NetFone service?
If you have any questions or trouble with your 808NetFone service, please see our Support page for information on how to get answers. From there, we can provide you with live online support or direct you to our phone numbers, office addresses, and business hours.

  5. What features are included?
808NetFone service includes Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Voicemail, and free Long Distance (either in Hawaii or National, depending on your plan). Voicemail can be accessed through your phone, and all messages will also be emailed to the address of your choice. A web site is available for managing your account, viewing missed calls, and placing calls directly from your online phone book through a feature called "Click to dial". More features will be added soon.

  6. Can I choose my own long distance provider?
By subscribing to 808NetFone, you are choosing Pacific LightNet Communications to be your Long Distance carrier. You'll receive unlimited long distance either within Hawaii or within the United States included as part of your plan.

  7. How does 808NetFone's voicemail feature work?
Voicemail is a standard feature of 808NetFone, free with every service plan. You can access it directly from your IP phone by dialing "*123". Once connected, you'll be prompted for your voicemail PIN. If you're calling from anywhere else, you can access your voicemail by dialing 808-791-1580. Then you'll have to enter both your 7-digit phone number and your voicemail PIN. You can also receive all your voicemail recordings as email messages sent to an address you specify through our online account manager at manage.808netfone.com.

  8. Do I have to buy any equipment to use 808NetFone?
There is no additional equipment to buy as long as you have a telephone a broadband connection in your home. Any specialized equipment will be provided by 808NetFone.

  9. Do I need to buy a special phone to use 808NetFone?
No. Any standard, touch-tone phone will work with 808NetFone.

  10. Can I be on the Internet and talk on the phone at the sametime?
Yes, you can be online at the same time that you are talking on the phone.

  11. What kind of Internet connection do I need? Is dialup good enough?
In order for 808NetFone to give you the performance you want, a broadband connection (cable, DSL, or faster) must be used. Even the fastest dialup connection won't have the bandwidth to give you a good quality voice conversation.

  12. Can I keep my current DSL/cable connection?
Yes. 808NetFone works with any high-speed connection, whether from Hawaii OnLine or another ISP.

  13. Can I dial 911 on my 808NetFone service?
Yes, you can dial 911 with your 808NetFone service. However, there are certain differences of which you should be aware.

  14. What is Call Waiting?
Call Waiting lets you know when you are getting an incoming call when you are already on the phone.

  15. What is Caller ID?
With Caller ID, you will be able to see who is calling before answering the phone. The only requirement is that you need a phone which is capable of displaying the Caller ID information.

  16. What is Call Forwarding?
Call Forwarding enables you to transfer your calls to a different phone number.

  17. Do I have to use Hawaii OnLine for my cable/DSL provider?
No, you can use any high-speed Internet connection for your 808NetFone service.

  18. If I don't have a highspeed connection, what should I do?
If you don't currently have a high-speed connection and wish to get one, you can go to Hawaii OnLine's signup page to order your Internet service now.

  19. What happens if I change my high-speed Internet provider?
Nothing will have to change with your the 808NetFone service. The only thing you need to think about is the configuration for the new connection and the DSL router or cable modem.

  20. What happens if my cable/DSL provider is having a temporary outage?
If your Internet connection is down, then you will not be able to receive calls. Instead, all your calls will go directly to voicemail, which you'll be able to access later from your phone or email. However, if you prior to the outage had set your Follow Me Service, then your phonecalls will still be routed to the numbers you have specified for your Follow Me.

  21. Can I use my 808NetFone service at a different location?
You can take your adapter with you to a temporary location. Just make sure that there is a high-speed Internet connection there for you to use. However, if you do bring your 808NetFone, please keep in mind that you won't be able to use 911's emergency location service. For more information why, see our 808NetFone 911 page.

  22. What happens when I move to a new permanent address?
When you move to a new location, you can bring your 808NetFone service with you. There is no need to disconnect and later reconnect the service at your new location. However, you will need to notify Hawaii OnLine about your new address so that we can update the records for 911 emergency dialing. To do so, please choose one of the contact methods availble.
