Max Henry, CEO
As Chief Executive Officer, Max manages day-to-day operations and
provides overall leadership in delivering Topica’s Online Marketing and
Sales Solution. Max has 27 years of experience leading Internet,
consumer, and business to business technology companies. With a strong
background in sales, business and financial management, he has a proven
track record of success. His experience includes founding and operating
Humming Bird Leadership, a leadership consulting and coaching firm
serving clients worldwide. Before joining Topica, Max served as CEO at
PrivateExpress, where he built the world’s first "Digital Courier
Delivery" Company, the "FedEx of the Internet". Prior to Private
Express, Max held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer
for Fabrik Communications (sold to Critical Path), where he grew the
organization from 5 to 75 people in a two-year period to create the
leading business messaging company as measured by the Electronic
Messaging Association (EMA). Max also held leadership positions at
Information Access Company (sold to Thomson for 465 million), JSB (now
SurfControl Corporation), NeXT Computer (sold to Apple for 400 million+)
and U.S. West Information Systems.
Britta Meyer, VP of Marketing & Customer Success
As Vice President of Marketing and Customer Success, Britta is responsible for Topica’s marketing and product management, as well as for driving the company’s efforts dedicated to customer success. Prior to joining Topica, Britta was Senior Director of Marketing at Commerce One, where she oversaw all product marketing, partnership management and communications efforts of the company’s ASP divisions. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Marketing at ineed.com, a b2b e-marketplace. Britta previously held management positions at Computer Consultants International, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and Schluetersche Publishing in Germany.
Ric Hattabaugh, VP of Sales
As Vice President of Sales for Topica, Ric is responsible for providing leadership and vision for Topica’s product sales efforts. Ric brings 20 years of experience in sales and marketing management to Topica. He previously served as Vice President of Sales at StrongMail Systems, a leading email infrastructure software company, which he helped grow from an early-stage startup to the preeminent force in the market. Prior to StrongMail, Ric was a partner at Eureka! Resource Group, a marketing and sales agency, helping medium to large enterprise businesses expand sales into new markets. His experience also includes leadership roles with Exodus Communications and Nortel Meridian Systems.
Roberto Mameli, VP of Technology
As Vice President of Technology, Roberto leads and manages Topica’s product development and operations efforts. Roberto joins Topica bringing over 15 years of experience managing the engineering of software products and helping leading technology companies innovate through the use of Internet technologies. At Oracle he contributed to the definition of the Network Computing Architecture and the development of the Oracle Application Server. At Macromedia, he worked on bringing together web analytics with real time personalization and extending the Flash technology to the middle-tier to close the loop on the Web Content Life Cycle. More recently, Roberto Mameli was VP of Engineering at ChartOne where he managed technology and product development of the first on-demand Electronic Health Record (EHR) repository and workflow system delivered as a service.
Gene Kulzer, VP of Finance
As Vice President of Finance, Gene is responsible for managing Topica’s Finance and Accounting departments. In joining Topica, Gene brings over 30 years of senior financial management experience designing and implementing effective financial and operating processes, controls, and systems with leading technology innovators. Most recently, Gene served as Corporate Controller of Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. where he was responsible for overseeing SEC reporting and the financial controls and records for the company. Previously, Gene was a partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he developed and managed the Enterprise Risk Services practice for the Technology, Media, and Telecom industries in Northern California.
Michele Reilly, VP, Business Operations
As Vice President of Business Operations, Michele is responsible for
organization development, change management, human resources,
communications, facilities, legal, and administration. Michele has 20+
years experience managing business operations, human resources, and OD.
Her experience includes founding and operating Dynamic Promotions, Inc.,
serving as the Regional Director of Operations and Human Resources for
Renaissance Worldwide Consulting, and as the Senior Manager of
Professional Development for Dolby Laboratories, Inc. She holds an A.S.
in Business Management and Economics from the State University of New
York, a B.S. in Organizational Behavior from the University of San
Francisco, and is completing her M.S. in Organization Development at the
University of San Francisco. Michele holds several certifications
including the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate
from HRCI.
Maurizio Caio, TLcom Capital Partners
Maurizio is a founder and Managing Partner of TLcom Capital
Partners, where he focuses on network infrastructure and
corporate applications of communication technology since the firm
foundation in 1999. He currently serves on the boards of
PacketFront, Netscalibur in Italy, and Topica in the US. Prior to
TLcom, he was a founding partner of Bain & Company in Italy and
was - until April 1999 - a Director of Bain & Company, leading
the firm’s European telecom/technology practice, and serving
clients from the firm’s European and San Francisco offices.
Previously he was with McKinsey and Company in Europe, focusing
on technology and growth strategy. He has spent 15 years advising
CEO’s and senior management of European and Silicon Valley
telecommunications and technology companies on strategy,
operations, commercial development and partnerships. Maurizio has
a Summa cum Laude Laurea degree in Business Administration from
Bocconi University in Milan and New York University, and an MBA
from Stanford University. He also served as a Professor and
Research Fellow in Strategic Planning and Control at Bocconi
University in Milan and as an Instructor of Information
Technology at the Stanford University Graduate School of
Business. He is based in London.
Fergal Mullen, Highland Capital Partners
Fergal is a General Partner focusing on e-commerce, software and
business services companies with a particular emphasis on emerging
growth opportunities in Europe. He currently represents Highland on the
boards of Coremetrics, Photoways, Topica and VistaPrint (Nasdaq: VPRT),
and is a former director of M7 (acquired by BEA).
Previously, Fergal served as a founding Partner of RSA Ventures, the
corporate venture fund of RSA Security, Inc., where he led the European
and Boston deal coverage. Prior to joining RSA Ventures, Fergal was a
Senior Vice President of Cambridge Technology Partners in Europe and a
member of the Executive Committee of the firm worldwide. As head of the
sales and marketing functions for Europe, he was responsible for
developing and executing a marketing and sales strategy across 14
offices in 11 countries. As a founding member of the firm, during his
eleven-year tenure Fergal played a leading role in growing the business
from start-up to profitability and over $600M in revenue establishing a
global footprint with 56 offices worldwide. He was directly responsible
for several country-based start-ups and the challenging turn-around of
an acquired firm. In 1997, Fergal initiated and launched Cambridge
Capital I, a $25M venture fund established to invest in leading
enterprise software firms. To date, the fund has returned approximately
$200M to investors. Fergal honed his deal skills while heading the
corporate business development function at Cambridge and subsequently
during his tenure at RSA Ventures. He also spent a summer working at
Morgan Stanley in the M&A group based in London.
Fergal has a BS, Electrical Engineering and BA, Business Economics from
Brown University and an MBA from Harvard University.
