General Aviation Operations activities encompass private, aerial work and recreational flying involving all types of aircraft. Many activites are regulated by a combination of CAA control and the appropriate representative body for the sport or activity, but in all cases overall responsibility is not delegated. This department also regulates commercial passenger flights in hot air balloons, runs a safety education programme, and publishes a comprehensive range of safety guidance material. Advice is provided to the Department of Transport (DfT) in connection with applications to conduct aerial work in the United Kingdom using foreign-registered aircraft.
