Yaletown Neighborhood

Who would have thought that Yaletown was once just a sleepy warehouse and industrial area, home to old railroad yards and meat packaging plants? Evident of this trendy urban mecca’s history are the warehouses of a bygone era and turn of the century buildings. These warehouses at Yaletown now house high-end furniture, interior home design and designer clothing retailers, which characterize the Yaletown neighborhood, and has become the favorite spot for film industry offices and shooting.

Alongside these historic Yaletown warehouses are numerous loft style buildings that made room for even more residences, trendy upscale yuppie boutiques, restaurants, fashionable hotels and several dot.com companies, which anchored their headquarters here at Yaletown.

Yaletown neighborhood redefined urban living; the area is very clean, very modern, and very chic. Yaletown has now turned into a hot and posh address. Yaletown is the newest destination to work, live and play, and because of that Yaletown’s Real Estate has advanced significantly; in fact Yaletown’s boundary is lined with dramatic high-rise residential buildings.

After years of neglect the area was redeveloped into what you see today. Fortunately enough the developers decided to keep Yaletown's brick warehouses and railroad-embedded alleys, and turned them into upscale restaurants, Uber-chic hotels, trendy bars, and high-end boutiques.  Even the grocery stores such as Urban Fare in this area are trendy and a great tourist attraction.

Like the preserved Yaletown warehouses, that speak so much of its history as a once an industrial district, Yaletown managed to preserve much of its legacy through the classic brick and beam architecture of the new buildings, charming outdoor spaces, and Yaletown’s cobblestone promenades and street which are decked with old fashioned garden planters and colorful banners.

Here are several Yaletown Parks, one of which is Helmcken Park, which is located in the middle of this now bustling metropolitan area, this is a lovely place to relax and picnic in the spring and summer season.

An enjoyable stroll down False Creek Seawall through Yaletown’s David Lam Park would surely invigorate any weary soul, besides the breezy sea air, Yaletown’s False Creek Marina has a lot to offer, whether you want to enjoy your food inside the numerous bistros and international restaurants or you dine along the breathtaking view of the luxurious waterfront in any of the sidewalk cafes of your choice.

When the sun goes down Yaletown is as lively as it is during the day. You will be overwhelmed with the choices that Yaletown can offer, from chic bars to trendy lounges and vivacious night clubs, whatever your trip is, you will surely get it here at Yaletown, from eating out, to dancing or just hanging out.

Currently, the feel of an artist's work in progress envelops Yaletown. All around we see old brick buildings and warehouses undergoing revitalization to make way for designer flagship stores, art galleries, salons, specialty stores, interior design shops, exclusive restaurants, bistros, offices of local and international companies all the other amenities of a modern world class urban living.
