How To Sign Up
Step 1 - Enroll for your ACS
Publisher ID
- On the ACS home page, select the starter pack
and click Buy Now.
- Complete and submit the enrollment form. VeriSign
Customer Support will process your order. If necessary, VeriSign may
contact you to confirm your order information.
Step 2 - Receive and install
your USB hardware token
- Once
your order is approved, you will receive an approval e-mail with instructions
on how to pick up your ACS Publisher ID.
Important:
Save this e-mail for future reference.
- We will
also mail you your USB hardware token with detailed instructions on
how to install the USB token. Typically, you should receive it in the
mail within a week of your order approval. Follow instructions to install.
Step 3 - Pick up your ACS Publisher
ID
- Once
you have installed your USB token, go to the VeriSign Web site provided
in your approval e-mail to pick up and install your Publisher ID.
- Now,
determine if you need to get your applications signed with any Privileged
Root certificates. Currently, we support: (1) Microsoft
Mobile2Market Privileged Root and (2) Verizon Wireless Privileged Root.
- Signing for the
Microsoft Mobile2Market Program:
If you are participating in the Microsoft Mobile2Market program and
looking to getting your applications signed, note that we support both
Unprivileged and Privileged mode signing. Unprivileged signing
is available for all developers through the signing portal by default.
However, to access the MS Windows Mobile for Smartphone Privileged signing,
you need to get pre-authorized by Microsoft after meeting certain Technology
Requirements. Please contact your Microsoft Mobile2Market contact
or send an e-mail to M2M@microsoft.com
alias for details and to be authorized to access the MS Privileged root.
More details on operator support for Mobile2Market privileged signing
is available here http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windowsmobile/partners/mobile2market/
smartphoneapps/default.aspx
- Signing your applications
for Verizon Wireless with privileged certificates:
If you are developing privileged mode applications for Verizon Wireless
and are required to get your application(s) signed with the Verizon
Privileged certificate, you must contact your Verizon Wireless contact
and have them authorize VeriSign to grant your ACS Publisher ID access
to the Verizon Privileged signer. Please note that you must have
a valid ACS Publisher ID before VeriSign can provide you access.
Providing access is a simple step. Typically, VeriSign provides
access to Verizon Privileged root signer within 1 business day of receiving
the authorization from Verizon Wireless. More details
on how to contact Verizon Wireless for privileged mode signing access
can also be found at http://www.handango.com/Article.jsp?siteId=1&CKey=1_VerizonSigningDetails
Step 4 - Access the Verisign
ACS Account Manager to upload and sign your files
- Go to
the ACS Account Manager. By default, you will have access to the Microsoft
Mobile2Market (M2M) Unprivileged Root signing. In addition, if you have
been authorized to access either Microsoft M2M Privileged and/or the
Verizon Privileged signer(s you will also see these signers available
to you in the drop down list within the signing portal (aka Signing
Account Manager or SAM).
- Sign
your files / code using the ACS Publisher ID. Then, upload your signed
files to get them re-signed by VeriSign ACS. Select the signer
you want in the menu within the SAM portal. Depending on what access
rights you have, you will see all available signers. Select the type
of signature you want and then upload your file. The re-signing process
is fully automated and real time. As soon as the files are signed
by the Verisign ACS service, you may download them for distribution.
Further instructions are provided in ACS Account Manager online help.
Important:
- You can access the
ACS Account Manager only if you have a valid Publisher ID. If you do
not have one, please enroll for a Verisign ACS Publisher ID. See Step
1 above.
- Steps 1 -3 are one-time
only until renewal after 1 year. Once you have your USB token with the
Publisher ID certificate, you can simply access the ACS Account Manager
to sign your files.
