Rik | 10.12.2006 at 06:11:48 | | A brief overview of my trip to Etang de la boissonie in september.
We were 2 guys driving to the lake (the dreaded drive'n'survive), but we managed to get there in the end. The instructions from Ron was spot on. As this was late in the season we had the lake to ourselves, so we were pretty spoiled in everything we did.
The weather wasn't too good the first 2 days, with heavy showers and thunderstorms, but the last 4 days were excellent. We even managed to get a bit of tan
We were paylake virgins, so we didn't know what to expect, but we both agreed to try and fish our socks off, and keep the bait in at all times. After almost 2 hours of fishing we had our first run, and we were in action. Let me put it this way: We had a lot of runs, more than often I didn't have all three rods in, because I couldn't finish a stick before the next rod was off, and it happened numerous times that I had 3 rods parked in front of my bivvy, waiting for a new stick. Unfortunately I wasn't into the bigger specimens, but was well occupied with the stick making that I didn't notice until after a few days. My mate were more lucky and got some real nice specimens. Maybe I did envy him a bit, but I got even by catching 2 cats around 20 lbs, whereas he didn't catch any. In the end we managed 17 carp above 22 lbs (10 kg), and 104 in total.
We left the lake on friday evening, after a quick shower (our first that week), in order to hit Paris during the night, and avoid much of the traffic.
I can highly recommend Etang De La Boissonie as it was a fantastic place, it is as rural as it can be, with absolutely no noise (apart from the buzzers, obviously) | | Message: 33/33 |

lee dunn (verycarpee) | 20.06.2006 at 06:34:07 | | JUNE 2ND-9TH 2006 (And what a week it was !)
We left home at 430am and started the long jouney up the m3 stansted bound ,both (me and "er indoors lol")full of anticipation of what the week had in store!!!!
got to stanstead at about 730am .just so happened to be on the same flight as ron +fran ,so there we are not quite sure who or what to expect sat there waiting for our hosts to arrive !a quick call on the mobile and a long walk around the terminal we met up !after a few stella artois and a breakfast for the ladies ,it was clear that this was not only the start of a fishing holiday but the start of a freindship, between myself and ron and donna and fran!a quick plane ride ,pit stop for supplys and off we went !40 minutes later we arived met by a welcoming party consisting of mark the baliff and andre the giant ,(a local farmer with a heart of gold )with all the kissing and cuddling over it was time for fish !!!!!!!
driving down to the lake and through the gate and seeing all those fish cruising on the surface is something i wont forget in a hurry!
down on the lake three anglers (ben his dad and his brother)were just finishing a weeks fishing ,a quick chat with them to see what had been occurring soon told me i was in for a busy week ,with that in mind and a serious thirst for lager me and donna decided that we would set up camp and have a bit of a social with ron and fran .on with the barbie and out with the stella ,oh yes and donna and fran polished off three bottles of champagne!so they both had and early night while me, ron,and bens dad sat talking fish
four sore heads appeared the following morning but after some top fodder and black coffees all round it was down to buisness !while donna and fran found the best sun trap ron set about putting me right !
out came 4 rods, unhooking mat, weigh sling and landing net all brand new ,top gear mate:
followed by 5 kilos of boilies and 25kg of pellet and we were off !
i chose only to fish two rods and used the other two for marking and spodding!
the swim i fished is to the right of the mobile home on the lake map ,i fished one rod in the margins and one on a gravel patch 40 yrds out both with a generous helping of spod mix and about 40 boilies on each ,then on top of that to each rig was atatched a pva bag on one and pva stick on the other !that"ll get em goin ithought to myself and it did !!it wasnt long before my first etang de la boissonie resident was safely in the net a pukka mirror 19.12oz cracking start !by this time the weather was getting hotter and hotter ,great for donnas sun tan but not great for the fish!things went quiet for couple of hours so a quick chat with ron and a check of the weather forcast and it was decided keep the bait tricking in on the spots throughout the day and hope when the sun starts to fade the fish start to feed ,boy does that man know his fish ,sure enough as the sun faded on turned the fish and so the week went on !7 days of sunbathing and catching bonus fish on surface baits ,and 7 nights of spodding and pure hectic run after run fishing !!!!! awsome !!!!
on wednesday after a little shopping trip for supplys ron returns and appears at the bivvy with a big lump of fresh liver .he said "u wanna catch a cat ?"of course i did who wouldnt !so hair rigged liver ,a halibut pellet as a hair stop and a pva bag full of chopped liver coated in amino black groundbait was tossed out and forgotten about ,wednesday night passes cat rod remains quiet all bar a few liners ,(still catching carp ten 2 the dozen u can set ur watch by em )thursday morning the cat rods off ,and my legs have gone to jelly ,if u have ever caught a cat u will know why ,those who havent try it !!!!!! and to top it off later that night another first a 14lb.00oz sturgeon !!!!!!!!
below is list of days fish and weights:

Ben (ben_5) | 09.06.2006 at 03:32:33 | | France 2006. (Etang De La Boissonie)
The first day we were there it was very hot and we could see all the fish on the surface so i fired out a few floaters after we had unpacked but they weren't interested so i decided to fish the bottom instead.
Me and my brother had nothing the first night but my Dad had two. Both Mirrors of 20lb and 21lb He caught them from the exact same spots as he did last year.
Next Day it was just as hot. We deicided to move round under the trees and to fish the margins a long the bank were the shower block is as that was were my dad was casting too the day before.
My dad had only placed a bait in the margins a long the bank a bit and about 15minutes later my he had a mint condition mirror of 29lb. My brother was fishing to right of my dad in the margins and he had a 24lb 8oz mirror and a 15lb mirror. I had the most that day catching 5 fish in total. They were mirrors of 15lb, 8lb, 14lb, 15lb and one of them we didn't weigh. That was all we had on that day which was a good start.
On the Monday we only caught 2 fish as the weather turned with a cold Northerly wind blowing across the lake. We also had a bit of rain as well. We were still fishing the same spots as on Sunday. My dad had caught an 18lb Mirror at 11:30 and I had a 20lb mirror. My brother had none but I think the fish he caught the next day made up for it.
Tuesday was just as cold but we had a bit more rain and we all caught a fish that day so it wasn't too bad.
My dad had a 19lb Mirror and a smaller fish that we didn't weigh, my brother caught a new PB of 30lb 6oz and I had a 19lb 2oz Mirror, a 21lb 2oz Mirror and another mirror that we didn't weigh.
On Wednesday I had two fish of 16lb 14oz and another small mirror. My brother had a 23lb Mirror and my dad had an 18lb 4oz Common.
Thursday was sunny but there was a cold wind. I had lost 4 fish due to hook pulls, my dad didn't have anything that day but my brother had three fish of 20lb 8oz, 24lb and an 18lb 4oz Common.
Last day (Friday) it got a lot hotter and it was a good day to see us off! My Dad had his fisrt Catfish of 22lb 8oz, my brother had 10lb Mirror and a 20lb Mirror and I had my biggest of the week which was a 30lb 6oz Mirror.
Later on that evening after we had the BBQ which Ron the Owner kindly invited us to my Dad had his last fish of the trip which was a 20lb Mirror.
All of my fish were caught on Fox Illusion 15lb hooklinks with Size 8 Korda Wide Gape Hooks.
I used 2.5 oz Carpioleads and 15mm Red Crab Carple Steamers from The Bait Master which i found to be very productive on the lake and i ended up catching the most fish of the week with them.
My dad and brother were using 18mm Catcherbait Crab and Fruit boilies which are what are fed to the fish in the lake.
The total number of fish we caught was 30. | | Message: 27/33 |
Steve - Spodit | 28.05.2006 at 20:20:30 | | Sat 13/5/06 - thurs 18/5/06.What a great time! not long been back, 3rd time out a what a great place to fish. Superb fish and Ron will have you in stitches. He is tops and makes you feel very welcome. You can have a great holiday a Etang De La Boisonnie just like me and my Dad. 51 fish between us, cats, mirrors, commons, leathers, sturgeon, superb. 3 over 30's 21 over 20 most of these high 20's, 18 doubles and the rest were singles but what makes your holiday a bonus is having Ron to help you with everything, he is really approachable with any problem and makes thngs easy. You can have a beer and just kick back and relax. I've fished in France before on different lakes and been told about big fish and came home dissapointed in my catch rate. I've always caught here at Carp Anglers Dream and if its your first time out to France this is the place to go. Its got everythng you want and most of all an angler who knows so much about all aspects of fishing and best of all where the fish are in the lake. You can't go wrong here just try it and I will look forward to reading your guest reports.
Cheers Ron for your help mate
Steve
