Steve is an American Canoe
Association and British Canoe
Union instructor from Ocean Park, Washington. Steve works for Confluence
Watersports and designed the Wilderness Systems 'Tempest' Kayak.
Steve's presentation is called 'Understanding
Boat Control' and will focus on how your body, boat, and paddle
can work magic on the water. He will also do some demonstrations
and a hands on 'Rescue and Recovery' session.

- Beginning
to advanced on-the-water instruction. Classes include paddling
technique, rescue, safety and wildlife viewing.
- Evening
talks and slide shows.
- Equipment
sampler: try out a variety of kayak brands and equipment.
- Demonstrations
on essential gear, navigation and how to pack for extended
trips.
- Kayak Socials.
Meet with fellow paddlers for film nights, potlucks and a fashion
show.
Classes and trips are taught by expert, seasoned guides intimately
familiar with Kachemak
Bay and experienced teaching both beginners and advanced paddlers. Classes
are specially priced for the festival so that all can experience the
joy of sea kayaking. Homer takes pride in welcoming paddlers and participating
hotels, B&Bs and restaurants provide discounts to help celebrate the
festival.
