The Real Deal About Time Share

Time share is a concept which started in the French Alps during the 1960's. Vacationing skiers shared resort accommodations during different intervals or weeks of the year. Owners purchased one week of time to use during each year.

In the beginning resorts hired slick sales people to sell these time shares. These "sharks" prowled the Florida beaches looking for unsuspecting tourists to snare. After a few years these owners now needed a way to sell time share and that's when the time share resale companies sprang to life.

Internet resale companies sprang to life. If you were looking to buy time share there were plenty of resale companies to choose from. Selling and renting these units became a million dollar industry. The market soon became saturated with all this time share for sale or rent. It was difficult to sell or rent time share.

Huge vacation resorts soon began to grow, like Fairfield, Marriott, Hilton, Westin and Sunterra. They popped up in Orlando, Branson, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Vail, and other prime locations. Florida, New York, Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Missouri all had resale time share. Disney even ventured into the time sharing game and still maintains a strong foothold in the industry.

Pretty soon this whole idea was so big that owners needed a place to "bank" their unused weeks of shared time. RCI and Interval International are two of the largest resort memberships in the word. Now there were private owners, resorts and resale companies all selling and renting time share.

A weeks schedule was created to convert calendar weeks into numerical weeks 1 through 52 for folks looking to buy. Popular weeks were worth more when the resells soon began. Rental clients are usually interested in the week number associated with the RCI or II banked week.

There are pros and cons to consider when you buy a time share as there are with selling it. Owners should be wary of resale scams and carefully consider their sales options. Buyers should watch out for the resorts and purchase time from private owners. You can save up to 50% buying on the resale market.
