State Fair landscapers provide year-round beauty in Fair Park

The State Fair Fall Garden Exhibition was a good idea in 2002 and, now, it's only gotten better: Originally a professional landscaping contest during the 24-day run of the Fair, today it's not uncommon for participants to maintain their completed beds year-round.

Five years ago, a modest roster of eight landscaping firms vied for the championship trophy. State Fair competitions in 2005 and 2006 attracted more than 50 companies tending 100 beds. The program offers bragging rights and unmatchable exposure for the landscaping companies and it's a living example showing guests how to tackle their own green spaces.

Richardson-based Absolutely Bushed picked up Best of Show in 2006 and 1st Place honors in 2005. C Green of Dallas won top place in the Large Garden and Best Hard Goods category.
