| Ali Ba Bas | | | Overall: | | Quality of food: | | | Location: | Not Available | Quality of service: | | | Open: | Not Available | Value for money: | | | Website: | No Web Site Available | Reviews: Matt Stewart said on 24/03/2007: Our favourite place without doubt. Taffy is a kind and thoughtful man. We've been coming to Dalyan for a few years, and everyone who knows makes Ali Baba's there first (and last) port of call. Our children are counting down the days until we're back (and there's still 62 to go, so I was told this morning by my seven year old son!) Why? Simple, Ali makes no fuss, just makes them personally welcome (and he has special stock of Lego and games!) And the pepper steak really is the best anywhere in the world. It true! john and tina said on 02/02/2007: Great choice of meat and vegetarian dishes to suit all. looking forward to this August Anonymous said on 02/11/2006: BEST LENTIL SOUP, AFTER A NIGHT OUT IN ZILLI'S Arsenal said on 05/10/2006: Have been going to Dalyan for 4 yrs and this is still the best overall, keep up the good work Tafi, have just returned from Dalyan and ali babba's was full everynight when a lot of the others had closed by 10 p.m RAYMONDO said on 16/09/2006: Ate here last week 10/9/06 fillet steak very dissapointing had to send it back twice as it was dripping with blood when i asked for it to be done medium to well done, showed my veggie wife who was enjoying her veggie meal until i did this.(not very tactful)
..rest of meal was good very busy & popular place to eat by both tourists & locals... mark botwright said on 02/09/2006: the best in town we eat there 6 nights out of 14 the owener is like gorden ramsey love it mark/wendy/jack/rosey dorset mike kelly said on 27/08/2006: Very good steaks Anonymous said on 21/08/2006: Very good food, especially the steaks which are superb. Very good value for money Mel said on 16/08/2006: Excellent food and great service- Thanks Alison for letting me know about it! Jon Gwynn said on 01/08/2006: we are a family of five and have just returned from a week in dalyan. we ate at this restaurant on two evenings and would have possibly eaten here even more had it not been for finding equally excellent fare and service in other restaurants. if you want to sample great turkish hospitality where locals themselves were eating then this is the place to try. you choose the food from a refrigerated display cabinet where the owner will happily advise you about the options available. it was a great service at a really good price. Arnie Mcnally said on 30/06/2006: Just returned from 2 weeks in Dalyan and we ate here most nights. Great choice and value for money.
Keep up the good standard Taffy and Ali.
Arnie D & V said on 05/06/2006: Over two holidays in Dalyan we have eaten here more than any other restaurant. Great choice of food freshly cooked and excellent & attentive service. When most restaurants were quiet last week Ali Babas was buzzing - that says it all. Keep up the good work Taffy & Ali and all the team - see you next year! Sarah & Jim Mills said on 31/05/2006: Our second favourite restaurant in dalyan and we've tried loads! Always great, traditional Turkish food, especially the meze and the best Fillet Steak I've ever tasted anywhere in the world. Taffy is always v welcoming in his own, laid back style. Bo Frederiksen Denmark said on 29/05/2006: really good food and service. we come again and again.

i want to say that this is a wonderful place to come with great food and service. it is a perfect location being in the centre of town behind the mosque to sit and watch the world go by especially on a saturday .after you have been to the market it is so nice to come and enjoy a cold drink and soak up the atmosphere.

To the other people stop slaggin eachother if your goin to do it, do it somewhere else it's pathetic. i'm from england and your makin us sound like dickheads and if emrah wants to fuck about with girls let him it's none of your business. Martin Shilland said on 21/02/2007: Emma i wouldn't bother with that silly little girl that comes on here to slag off Emrah don't rise to her, she's probably the one that is insecure and plus has nothing else to do in her time then slag off a guy that she doesn't even see much, now thats PATHETIC Emma said on 21/02/2007: ha what a prick, oh your so hard, gosh if i sound insecure (which i am not) you must be as thick as i thought, i am not fat, what would it matter if i was?, i dont need to be fat to beat a gobby bitch like yourself up, haa you make me laugh too, yer would be funny to meet you, but to be honest i dont have time you might in your shallow life + i wouldnt give you the satisfaction or waste my time, u pathetic dirty skank, gosh your boring as what i keep writing ... Emma said on 21/02/2007: To lisa and Alice and others, yer sorry about sounding a rather idiot, just that twat made me feel like i had to say something. Yer this restaurant is great, open all year round and great tv, waiters friendly/funny, and its set in a handy part of the town. And lastly to that dick head thats thinks she can speak to me like i am has low/bitch as she, you sound like a slag-loser-twat, you couldnt beat me up even if you where directly infront of me,(would be funnie if we met 1 day, jst c what a crank u are) cya bell-end. (sorry other peep for the not so nice message part, keep talking nicely* about the restaurant :)) , Emma Alice said on 21/02/2007: i agree with lisa. if you have problems, sort it out away from this. this is to review the restuarants not to be foul mouthed or talk about the habits of the waiters there. Anonymous said on 21/02/2007: this is to emma, shut ya mouth, you don't no nuffin! where the fuck are u from? an i didn't get hurt by him, y shud i be i can grt enuf men. he's sick an a perv an i can't say why coz it is somethin that shouldn't be said on here. i would luv to beat the shit out of you.you need to be careful who you run ya mouth to! yeah i mite not be able to do shit coz ya mite live in another country or summet, but trust me if u lived where i lived you would get fucked!!!! an i can say wot i want, wen i want. an if ya fink ya that bad cum here an prove it. an i don't care if ya mates wiv all dem lot, i could'nt give 2 fucks! slag! Lisa said on 21/02/2007: I though the point of this was to rate the restaurant?? not how sexually active the staff are. emma said on 20/02/2007: Yer whatever, you probably slag him off because you are a loser that is dwelling on something ( because he didn’t want you or he hurt your feelings) … how sad. Yer I judge who I want, and what are you going to do about that? Ha nothing. You are a low life getting kicks out of swearing eg C**T and saying stuff like “you mite be a pussy and shallow” ha that’s u dear!. Oh I stick up for myself also and for friends, Emrah is a cheeky sod, but everyone knows it and if a girl doesn’t want to be hurt maybe they should Not get with him. Gosh you make me laugh how you write, : ) Gobby cow. Buttt.... he has sooo many girlfriends that he forgets there names and stuff! And he only want sex dah! we also understand it emrah ;) But if dont want to be used! Watch out for Emrah Yilmaz and dont trust him, if you want to keep your selfsteam!! seee you next year emrah, you know me baby.. xxxx big kisses
one thing baby... you have to practice your sex technic!! Emma said on 18/02/2007: Gosh you are a foul mouthed guy. You may not like him but to slag him off like that his very nasty/harsh, yes he messes around with different girls, but they choose to get with him, i could understand if you were/are angry with him, say if he slept with your girlfriend or something like that. But if nothing as bad as that, its his life, these girls know what they are doing (well i would hope they are) and if he gets any diseases then that's his thought and he should take action, he's not that stupid. I have never heard someone speak so harshly of someone i know, and people that are English and that speak like you have really give England a bad name. Anonymous said on 18/02/2007: to the person who wrote the last message, you can fuck off, an stop runnin ya mouth you slut! emrah is a dirty prik an cant keep his dick in his pants. if your that bothered then go fuck him yourself an yourself to! so you mite wanna keep ya mouth shut in future an stop lickin his arce wen ive got reasons not to like him. an if you say anythin bout me again you will you will get fucked up to! The maitre de was full of apologies, but how hard is it to rustle up a couple of beers and a pitta bread relatively quickly??!! By the time we got anything we were dying of thirst and hunger - that said, the sea bream was large and excellently cooked. We won't be going back though, because in a town with so many good restaurants there's no need to put up with bad service and disorganisation! Anonymous said on 11/08/2006: just returned from Dalyan on monday already booked for next year as we are already missing the food. Ate here at least 10 times during two week stay as it was so good , Mehmet was right on the first night we ate there that after trying other restaurants that we would come back to him, and we did. Must try. If you know Musti, he is definately a very happy, educated and mannerly young man. The food in this restaurant is tasty,I have been eating here for the last 8 years. The restaurant is a relaxing and beautiful setting and the staff are extremely polite to their customers. I have known Musti for 2 years and he always acts as my chaperon. Musti can have a great laugh without the need to lust over women. His girlfriend is Anna and he gives her the respect, a true gentleman, which you rarely experience these days.Musti and Anna ignore this site as it only upsets those who are happy together. Do not use bad language because that is what these people want to see. The Begonvil doesnt need this site as it has a very good reputation and the customers keep coming back each year. Musti - hope you are looking after your special guests at the moment and I hope the children are driving you crazy LOL. brodie said on 09/10/2006: hey l dont know who are u?but plase shut up and dont be disgusting any more!he's a gorgeous pearson and one of the best waiter in dalyan! Why dont you stay in england next time or go to spain, you all ready f##ked it out there.
The owners had no idea about Turkey or life out here, they didnt respect or like turkish people and they even had a letter on the back of their menu telling customers not to trust turks and that all they ever do is rip you off. Well some do, but many dont, same with any country. The only people who were ripping you off was the lizzys crew, by taking away your chance of having a real turkish experience. cleopat said on 12/03/2006: best of the best!!!! tina garry n family said on 12/03/2006: Great all the time we have been there!!! xxx Anonymous said on 02/01/2006: im sorry, but when i go to dalyan im not wanting "real " english food.their traditional foods are lovely.stay at home if thats what you look for in a holiday ; ) Anonymous said on 29/12/2005: visited this resteraunt twice, first time i was not to keen on the owners, however when i actually spoke to the lady was very friendly. So why dont they have trouble? Mostly becuase they live here as turks, they have accepted the culture, and have more turkish friends then british.
Plus they are respected within the community, becuase they have respected the comunity. jt said on 26/09/2006: a reply when i say a free market econmy i dont mean mcdonalds i mean a place where people can holiday or live or start a business on the same terms as turks there have been many attemps by the english to open some kind enteprise only to come up aganist some local red tape spured on by jelous rivals result no sole owned english business in dalyan even english woman with turkish boyfriends /husbands have nothing but back stabbing from rivals there is no level playingfield in dalyan i will still holiday in dalyan nothing would put me off but i now would never consider living there...... esme said on 25/09/2006: debbie, how come its ok for people to call turks all kinds of things on this web site, but not ok for me to pass comment. I cant belive you found my comments so insulting that you want them removed, take a look at some of the other resturant reviews for example alis returant. Its appaling, one girl even is kind of admitting she was raped by one of the waiters but later says she enjoyed it. Come on debbie, surley thats more offensive then what iam saying. Or is that what dalyan tourisim has come to, a mass orgy with english breakfast thrown in for good measure!! esme said on 25/09/2006: a note for jt. I dont know if you have been to dalyan recently, but the tourists are staying away, and many people who have been coming here for years say this will be their last...why? because they say the charm of dalyan is being lost. Free market? people dont come here for mc donalds, or maybe the new crowd do!!
outsiders are not crushed by the dalyan cartel, there isnt one. Most people having buisnesses here, are not born in dalyan, they come from all over. The only difference is they pay tax! How do you feel about people without working permits in the uk. jt said on 25/09/2006: must have been a great place as your all still talking about it a year after the owners got shafted it was hardly blackpool just good food and service and a bright clean place to eat at and copied by others . The tourists and english will stay away if they are not allowed a free market economy as i see it dalyan is a cartel town where any outsiders are crushed by foul or fair means just look how many english involved buissness have been slapped down this year ricks and many more i will still come to dalyan for my holidays but i fear many wont .. Debbi said on 22/09/2006: Whilst I agree Dalyan is virtually unique at the moment and most of us want it to stay that way, what I am saying is Esme's nasty comments on this subject are very personally directed at people who are just trying to give their opinion to assist other holidaymakers make their choice. I have never been to this bar and doubt I ever will but her generic assumptions about the people who enjoy this bar are highly offensive. Charlotte said on 17/09/2006: This may be unfair as I have never eaten in Lizzy's, but as a brit who has been coming to Dalyan for 6 years, I have to say places like this depress me. I chose Dalyan because it has it's own vibe and was mercifully free of "English Bars/restaurants". I from reading previous comments I with Esme on this one. Anonymous said on 17/09/2006: like to add my support to esme. I also have a fear of Dalyan becoming like marmaris. It is a village and we should keep it this way. Marmaris is only an hour away if you want that type of thing. Impressed with your English Esme, unlike the english people that have to resort to swearing (I am english but often embarrassed by english behaviour) esme said on 15/09/2006: i am not rasist
just an obsever of cultures. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and this is mine, i am rating what i think about lizzys place, but i am also rating what i think places like this do to a traditional village....they turn it in to marmaris..... by the way i am sure my english is far better then your turkish and i have never even been there!!!! I dont have a problem with english people, mostly they are lovely soft people, i am talking about the small minority who want every where to resemble england. Debbie said on 13/09/2006: Here, here!! Just what claim has Esme on Dalyan, I would like to know? This is supposed to be a genuine site where people can view their opinions to help other holidaymakers. I would ask that the Administrator removes Esme's insulting and narrow minded comments. Dalyan and Turkey need tourists - not people like this. I, for one, will seriously consider turning off from the forum if her comments remain. erin said on 12/09/2006: esme what a first class arsehole you sound learn fucking english before you try and wind up the english that support dalyan and turkey its narrow minded racist bigots like you that give turkey a bad name...prick esme said on 07/08/2006: maybe the reason you had a bad experience of turkey and turkish people is becuase you hang out with people like the english ex owners of lizzys bar, and other such english cretins who only see turkey as a place to turn a lobster red whilst drinking cheap beer and eating english food. Thank god for global warming you will all be able to stay at home to fry in a few years time and we will no longer be polluted by your english breakfasts and british bull dog small mindedness.

I had booked a table on my last night in Dalyan and had to wait at least 20 minutes to order. There was only a few tables in the restaurant and i could see he was clearly more intersted in serving his wifes friends who stay at their apartments. I waited another 40 minutes for drinks and well over an hour for a cold starter to arrive. This has to be my worst experience of a restaurant in Turkey and to top it all I got food poisoning from their Blue Crab and was off work for a full month. Anonymous said on 20/09/2006: Very good home cooked food, lovely selection, very reasonably priced nikki said on 19/08/2006: I have been to Dalyan many times and Saki is by far the best for delicious home cooked turkish cuisine with outstanding service from Binnas and her family. I love all their mezes and the spicy meatballs are delicious. 10 out of 10. Hope to see you agin soon. Mopezone said on 17/08/2006: Totally agree - has to be the best restaurant in Dalyan and has only improved since relocating from last year's site just off the market square to the riverside. Probably better for the mezze and vegetable specialities than meat, but you'd be mean to grumble about anything here. Run by a delightfully friendly family who are the epitome of Turkish hospitality and light years away from some of the pushy waiters elsewhere. If you want to experience the real Turkey you have to go here - one point though - no menu, so you have to select your meal by sight and be prepared to ask the price if necessary! Anonymous said on 25/07/2006: If you're fed up of waiters badgering you to come in and special menus aimed at tourists, you'll love Saki - authentic Turkish food in a friendly family-run restaurant. The mezze is outstanding - don't go without trying the courgette fritters and stuffed tomatoes. The fact the place is frequented by locals and far cheaper than all the other restaurants, while providing the best food, says it all. We ended up eating there every night - it's the best eaterie in Dalyan. Anonymous said on 18/07/2006: Saki is now by the river - by the rowing boat crossing. We found it to be the most authentic, well priced turkish restaurant in town. Service was excellent and when a power cut hit as we finished our meal they kindly ordered a taxi and made sure we negotiated the steps to it. Miss Saki during your stay in Dalyan at your peril. d & v said on 23/06/2006: Believe me, I do not have a "downer" on Saki's - I have reported my experiences as they were on the night and hope that they are noted by the owners. We went on recommendation from friends whose opinions are similar to yours (and still are) and are surprised how we found it. In nearly 40 years of foreign travel we have never ever left a restaurant & have rarely made a major complaint. Then again, never been ignored for so long. We hope Saki's prosper. They say the food is great-we never found out. Dress code for waiters? -we just prefer a bit more smartness.Enjoy! Anonymous said on 14/06/2006: my experience of saki is totally different from the previous review. The food has always been excellent, as has the service. Perhaps they are a little short staffed because their daughter is not yet back from university? We have always found Suleman to be charming. The fact that he wears casual clothes is fine. This is a lovely informal family run restaurant, which is also spotlessly clean. The comments about white shirts and scruffy trainers lead me to doubt about the reliability of the other comments. D & V said on 05/06/2006: Went on recommendation - must have been an off day! Got drinks within 10 mins of arriving, placed order from the cabinet - I ordered a
starter and main course, my wife just a main course (Due to the limited & unappetising choice).Twenty mins later our drinks and the starter were finished and the dirty plates and empty glasses sat on the table & no waiter came near us. After total of 65 mins I asked when we could expect our meals - answer "Soon!". When I pointed out that no bread had been brought to our table I was told "Maybe I forgot". I was told that I should have called the waiter for more drinks and to have the dirty plate cleared as "How do I know that you have finished?" - what, after over 30 mins!! I was then told "We DO have other customers to serve!" - the place was not full. I suggested that he had better concentrate on them in that case - several others were also looking impatient by now. I offered to pay for the drinks and starter, was told no charge - so we left, the first time we have ever walked out of a restaurant anywhere. Some tips for Saki - please remember that it is YOUR job to serve and attend to your customers - it is not theirs to have to chase you and it is YOUR job to clear dirty plates, keep glasses filled and to put bread on the table. I suggest that you look like waiters --t-shirts,jeans & trainers are scruffy. Take a look at your competiton, most wear white shirts & dark trousers. Oh, and get rid of that awful vacuum cleaner used to clear the crumbs from the table- most unpleasant.
PS. In less than an hour after leaving Saki we had finished an excellent meal at the superb Ali Baba's, served by people who really do care about service. Take note. I felt it quite dangerous when one waiter handed a young boy a firework (still burning) after he had had it in his mouth. The fireworks were dangerous and the staff seemed to enjoy putting people at risk. we will not eat her again unless we are supplied with ear protectors and fire hoses Mopezone said on 17/08/2006: Very good restaurant, all the more because it's bang in the main square and therefore passing trade would enable them to drop standards and still survive. Firstly the restaurant is great; Huseyin and the staff work their butts off and the food is as good as anywhere else and better than most.
Secondly, I class myself as a personal family friend to Huseyin, Doga and Elcin and I despise people throwing insults behind the veil of the anonymous email.

I've always had excellent food and service, eaten there as single woman, no hassle. Huseyin and his wife took me out on trips and to meet friends when I was there on my own, never any pressure - looks like somebody very vindictive is posting here.
