Our favourite place without doubt. Taffy is a kind and thoughtful man. We've been coming to Dalyan for a few years, and everyone who knows makes Ali Baba's there first (and last) port of call. Our children are counting down the days until we're back (and there's still 62 to go, so I was told this morning by my seven year old son!) Why? Simple, Ali makes no fuss, just makes them personally welcome (and he has special stock of Lego and games!) And the pepper steak really is the best anywhere in the world. It true!

Ate here last week 10/9/06 fillet steak very dissapointing had to send it back twice as it was dripping with blood when i asked for it to be done medium to well done,showed my veggie wife who was enjoying her veggie meal until i did this.(not very tactful)
..rest of meal was good very busy & popular place to eat by both tourists & locals...

we are a family of five and have just returned from a week in dalyan. we ate at this restaurant on two evenings and would have possibly eaten here even more had it not been for finding equally excellent fare and service in other restaurants. if you want to sample great turkish hospitality where locals themselves were eating then this is the place to try. you choose the food from a refrigerated display cabinet where the owner will happily advise you about the options available. it was a great service at a really good price.

Over two holidays in Dalyan we have eaten here more than any other restaurant. Great choice of food freshly cooked and excellent & attentive service. Our second favourite restaurant in dalyan and we've tried loads! Always great, traditional Turkish food, especially the meze and the best Fillet Steak I've ever tasted anywhere in the world. Taffy is always v welcoming in his own, laid back style.

just a reminder that is a place to review the restaurant. also that this is a popular web site which families and young people access. i think it is disgusting the language and the comments that are being written on here. there are plenty of chat services out there you could use to compare notes and be offence on why use up the space on this one.
i want to say that this is a wonderful place to come with great food and service. it is a perfect location being in the centre of town behind the mosque to sit and watch the world go by especially on a saturday .after you have been to the market it is so nice to come and enjoy a cold drink and soak up the atmosphere.

Its a good resturant although you do have to watch out. Always check your bills as they add drinks on for themselves and they make up there own prices most the time. Mustafa the bar man is very goood at his job but beware if you stay with them because there nice to your face and bitch about you behind your back espesialy the wife shes a bitch. just dont say anything to her and your be fine. She needs to take a closer look at her own life not everythings as peachy as she thinks.All the waiters are out for what they can get and who blames them. there young enjoy yourself whilst you can.

Just back from dalyan. We ate at Alis Restaurant on one occasion but would have eaten there more often had we stayed more than a week. Alis Restaurant is in a good central location, the staff are very friendly and along with the kitchen staff extremely hard working. The evening was rounded off with some extremely energetic break dancing from some of the Alis staff. Thanks for a good evening to all at Alis.

i go to turkey like 6 or 7 times a year for like 2 weeks each time. I have two houses there so i practically live there. I swear ive been to almost every restaurant min Dalyan, and this is by far the best. Great prices, Great traditional turkish food, great service, and its really well located opposite the mosque

Just returned after third visit to Dalyan. Atay Dostlar Sofrasi never fails to delight. Wonderfull 'fresh' ingredients, do try the local dishes off the hotplate. V.Tasty. You won't be displeased!

They were busy the night we went - we waited 15 mins for our drinks, 30 mins for the bread, and at least an hour for the main course! The maitre de was full of apologies, but how hard is it to rustle up a couple of beers and a pitta bread relatively quickly??!! By the time we got anything we were dying of thirst and hunger - that said, the sea bream was large and excellently cooked. We won't be going back though, because in a town with so many good restaurants there's no need to put up with bad service and disorganisation!

just returned from Dalyan on monday already booked for next year as we are already missing the food. Ate here at least 10 times during two week stay as it was so good , Mehmet was right on the first night we ate there that after trying other restaurants that we would come back to him, and we did. Musti is a very good friend of mine and he works very hard, as do the other staff, in the Begonvil. If you know Musti, he is definately a very happy, educated and mannerly young man. The food in this restaurant is tasty,I have been eating here for the last 8 years. The restaurant is a relaxing and beautiful setting and the staff are extremely polite to their customers. I have known Musti for 2 years and he always acts as my chaperon. Musti can have a great laugh without the need to lust over women.His girlfriend is Anna and he gives her the respect, a true gentleman, which you rarely experience these days.Musti and Anna ignore this site as it only upsets those who are happy together. Do not use bad language because that is what these people want to see. The Begonvil doesnt need this site as it has a very good reputation and the customers keep coming back each year. Musti - hope you are looking after your special guests at the moment and I hope the children are driving you crazy LOL.

Our favourite restaurant in Dalyan. The mezes are especially good and the complementary flat bread is to die for - don't think about the calories! A very extensive menu gave loads of choice to keep everyone happy although the Turkish food was by far the best. Very friendly service and attentive cats round off an excellent experience well worth repeating.

After havin spent three evenings in here i offer the following comments. The service was outstanding. The food was excellent from starters through to desert. Both waiters were extremely professional in every way particularly there appearance and conduct. They looked after every detail. It is always a great relief for me to discover a good chinese especially in a perfect place like Dalyan. I would strongly recommend a meal or two here.

The manager is a disgrace. 5 people for a meal and he was very excited. however, when we suggested too much salt in food, he became loud and abusive calling us bloody liars. the meal itself, didnt really taste like the chinese we know in UK. will never go back due to the disgraceful behaviour of this manager.

our friends who have visited Dalyan before have eaten here many times- with good reason. We were made so welcome by everyone, ate very well, had a laugh with the staff and a massage or two...it doesn't come much better than that! If you worry about trying new things, this is the place to go as Eray describes dishes so well and everything we tried was delicious. The home made bread is wonderful too. 'Talking' cats, impromptu dancing- what more could you ask for? Thank you to all at Gecit- the salt bass will be a memory forever!

We ate at many different places during our holiday but nothing came close to Eray's. You are always made very welcome and the food is always fresh and delicious. The waiters are very friendly without being creepy! and memhet will always make you laugh. This was our 3rd time in Dalyan and Gecit still remains our favourite restaurant.

So much has been written about the waiters in Lalezar. PLEASE TRY THE FOOD, it is one of the best in town. We have been coming to Dalyan for 10 years, every year we have our favorite places to eat and this is always one of the best. Fatih the manager is a good man and deserves a good write up for the food and service, yes the waiters flirt, but they are no different to the waiters in any other restaurant. Give it a try in 2007.

So why dont they have trouble? Mostly becuase they live here as turks,they have accepted the culture, and have more turkish friends then british.
Plus they are respected within the community, becuase they have respected the comunity.

Strange but true.. Since anonymous has been writing, MEM's has got busier??? We have never had a problem with anything at mem's and we eat there fairly regularly being resident most of the year. Probably the most consistently excelent restaurant in town and Mem is one of best,a gentleman in everyway.

I had been going to Mems for two seasons running but have not been back due to the disgusting service and poor meal I got on my last visit. I had booked a table on my last night in Dalyan and had to wait at least 20 minutes to order. There was only a few tables in the restaurant and i could see he was clearly more intersted in serving his wifes friends who stay at their apartments. I waited another 40 minutes for drinks and well over an hour for a cold starter to arrive. This has to be my worst experience of a restaurant in Turkey and to top it all I got food poisoning from their Blue Crab and was off work for a full month. Will not be back to Mems

Together with our friends we ate previously at the Golden Crab the owners previous restaurant. The quality there was second to none and Safran was equally as good. We were even driven back to our hotel after the meal. Everything was spot on!!

Totally agree - has to be the best restaurant in Dalyan and has only improved since relocating from last year's site just off the market square to the riverside. Probably better for the mezze and vegetable specialities than meat, but you'd be mean to grumble about anything here. Run by a delightfully friendly family who are the epitome of Turkish hospitality and light years away from some of the pushy waiters elsewhere. If you want to experience the real Turkey you have to go here - one point though - no menu, so you have to select your meal by sight and be prepared to ask the price if necessary!

If you're fed up of waiters badgering you to come in and special menus aimed at tourists, you'll love Saki - authentic Turkish food in a friendly family-run restaurant. The mezze is outstanding - don't go without trying the courgette fritters and stuffed tomatoes. The fact the place is frequented by locals and far cheaper than all the other restaurants, while providing the best food, says it all. We ended up eating there every night - it's the best eaterie in Dalyan.

Saki is now by the river - by the rowing boat crossing. We found it to be the most authentic, well priced turkish restaurant in town. Service was excellent and when a power cut hit as we finished our meal they kindly ordered a taxi and made sure we negotiated the steps to it. Miss Saki during your stay in Dalyan at your peril.

my experience of saki is totally different from the previous review. The food has always been excellent, as has the service. Perhaps they are a little short staffed because their daughter is not yet back from university? We have always found Suleman to be charming. The fact that he wears casual clothes is fine. Went on recommendation - must have been an off day! Got drinks within 10 mins of arriving, placed order from the cabinet - I ordered a
starter and main course, my wife just a main course (Due to the limited & unappetising choice).Twenty mins later our drinks and the starter were finished and the dirty plates and empty glasses sat on the table & no waiter came near us. After total of 65 mins I asked when we could expect our meals - answer "Soon!". When I pointed out that no bread had been brought to our table I was told "Maybe I forgot". I was told that I should have called the waiter for more drinks and to have the dirty plate cleared as "How do I know that you have finished?" - what, after over 30 mins!! I was then told "We DO have other customers to serve!" - the place was not full. I suggested that he had better concentrate on them in that case - several others were also looking impatient by now. I offered to pay for the drinks and starter, was told no charge - so we left, the first time we have ever walked out of a restaurant anywhere.Some tips for Saki - please remember that it is YOUR job to serve and attend to your customers - it is not theirs to have to chase you and it is YOUR job to clear dirty plates, keep glasses filled and to put bread on the table. I suggest that you look like waiters --t-shirts,jeans & trainers are scruffy. Take a look at your competiton, most wear white shirts & dark trousers. Oh, and get rid of that awful vacuum cleaner used to clear the crumbs from the table- most unpleasant.
PS. In less than an hour after leaving Saki we had finished an excellent meal at the superb Ali Baba's, served by people who really do care about service. Take note.

This place was average for service the only facinating thing was ginger waiters who just danced and turned the music up so loud it offended everybody at our table and other restaurants in the area including those in bodrum. I felt it quite dangerous when one waiter handed a young boy a firework (still burning) after he had had it in his mouth. The fireworks were dangerous and the staff seemed to enjoy putting people at risk. we will not eat her again unless we are supplied with ear protectors and fire hoses

Very good restaurant, all the more because it's bang in the main square and therefore passing trade would enable them to drop standards and still survive. But they haven't - it's friendly, efficient, and the food is great - what's more it's not expensive, even by Dalyan standards - top place, highly recommended.

This restaurant is fantastic. Myself and my fiance Andy went on holiday with our friends and their two kids Cian and Niamh (you may remember them Murat!). It was the first restuarant we ate at on our first visit to Dalyan and it did not disappoint. All the staff are very friendly and will do anything to make your stay comfortable. Especially wonderful with the little ones, even supervising them while you enjoy your meal. Hope to be back next year!

It is such a petty that websites such as this are used by malicious people instead of for the purpose it was set up for.
Firstly the restaurant is great; Huseyin and the staff work their butts off and the food is as good as anywhere else and better than most.
Secondly, I class myself as a personal family friend to Huseyin, Doga and Elcin and I despise people throwing insults behind the veil of the anonymous email.
If you have a beef then go and speak to the man privately. They used to call it, being a man..

I've known Huseyin since he was "just a waiter" at a restaurant in Dalyan nearly 10 years ago. Know his history, knew him when he was in partnership at another restaurant, saw him struggle to get this one going. I've always had excellent food and service, eaten there as single woman, no hassle. Huseyin and his wife took me out on trips and to meet friends when I was there on my own, never any pressure - looks like somebody very vindictive is posting here. Huseyin has always been a gentleman: kind, polite, friendly, always has time for you. I'll definitely eat there again regularly next time I'm in Dalyan.

Murat was the only one that attracted the customers in never had a bad meal or a bad bill. Murat was the life and soul of the restaurant. I'll be going to see Murat at the new restaurant that hes working at.

have never had a bad meal in the many years I have been coming to Dalyan - Husseyin is always friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back again next month. I know there have been some issues with staff in the past but I know Husseyin has worked very hard to sort this out and can't wait to be back in Dalyan again.

We only went there for a drink one afternoon and experienced some very childish, bad behaviour from some of the waiters and their friends - perhaps because we were a group of women. But it wasn't pleasant and definitely did not impress us. We never went back there to eat or drink as a result due to the lack of professionalism.

im sorry if you feel that people are being hard on the place bu i have eaten here many times and always enjoyed it. it was simply the waiter murat who let the side down. but i heard that he no longer works here which is great news and we look forward to eating here when we come back in october.

i agree with the last comment. having ate here a lot last year and really enjoyed it was unhappy with the service we recieved thie year. murat only interested in older women on their own and please everybody keep a note of what you have to drink and check your bill at the end of the night.

very poor. i too had extra drinks added on my bill and my meal was more expensive than i was told it was going to be, thankyou murat. it is good to know you are the same slimy cheat you have always been. if the restaurant wants its good reputation back then it should change some of its waiting staff.
