UN acting quickly to implement global counter-terrorism strategy
Terrorism hurts all nations -- large and small, rich and poor. It takes its toll on human beings of every age and income, culture and religion. It strikes against everything the United Nations stands for. The fight against terrorism is our common mission.

Bearing key responsibility for peace and security, the Council has long been involved in the fight against terrorism.
An agenda item on measures to eliminate international terrorism occupies a special place in the Assembly's work.
Eastablished in the wake of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 by Security Council resolution 1373, calling on countries to implement a number of measures intended to enhance their legal and institutional ability to counter terrorist activities at home, in their regions and around the world

Established on 15 October 1999 by Security Council resolution 1267 for the purpose of overseeing the implementation of sanctions concerning Al-Qaida and the Taliban
