The Homer Chamber of Commerce will be awarding two $500 scholarships to graduating students in the Homer area this year.  These scholarships must be used for educational costs at a college, university or vocational or trade school.  The scholarships awarded must be used within one year.  The recipient will be required to show proof of enrollment.  Consideration will be given for the type of training or education applied for, educational or vocational goals, community participation and financial need.

The deadline to apply is Monday, April 9th at 5:00 pm.  All applications must be returned to the Homer Chamber of Commerce office at 201 Sterling Highway, Homer, AK  99603.

Please follow these procedures to prepare your scholarship folder:

1.   All information should be typed or printed neatly.
2.   Attach completed application and financial plan.
3.   Attach your transcript.
4.   Include a letter about yourself, your goals, and your need for a scholarship.
5.   Include a letter of reference from a school staff member.
6.   Include a letter of reference from a member of the community not related to you, and not employed by the school system.

You may be called for an interview.  The scholarships will be awarded at the recipient’s graduation ceremony, or as close to that time as possible.
