Member Benefits

As a current member of the Kenai River Professional Guide Association, there are a number of activities and programs you should be aware of. They offer considerable benefits to you, your business and your organization and KRPGA strongly encourages your participation. These include the following:

  • Alaskaguidesdirectory.com returns 10% of advertising proceeds from KRPGA members back to the KRPGA.
  • Northwest Insurance Services Inc. owner Rick Ream and his company are the primary marine vessel insurance providers for our organization. Rick will provide you with an extremely competitive quote and he is very professional and personable to work with. Rick Ream can be reached at his office toll free: 1-800-322-6005, or through email at: insurenw@aol.com.
  • Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware offers a generous discount to our members on all non-sale items, as well as low, competitive prices on a wide variety of fishing tackle and outdoor gear. KRPGA encourages our entire membership to support Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware.
  • Kenai River Sportfishing Association's "Catch a Hog" Program offers members an opportunity to provide their clients a $500 credit toward a reproduction fiberglass fish mount. To qualify, members must register with KRSA and release a Kenai River King Salmon, 48 inches long or larger. To sign up, please call Kenai River Sportfishing Association at 262-8588 (www.kenairiversportfishing.com). This is an excellent opportunity to promote the release of large kings and we hope our members take advantage of this unique opportunity.
  • WWW.KRPGA.ORG is our organizations website and it is being maintained by Phil Gantt. The site offers members the opportunity to voice their opinions on many issues facing our industry and discuss current projects the organization is involved with. Feedback and input from the web site, along with discussions at the monthly meetings, will be used when the board decides direction on various issues, so membership participation is very important. The site also offers members an opportunity to place ads and to respond to visitors to the site who are looking for guide services. All KRPGA members, their contact information, including a link to their website, are listed alphabetically on KRPGA.ORG
  • New Kenai River Guide Training Program. This is a plan that would require all new, first year Kenai River guides to pass a certification process. Membership input is critical to the creation of this program and the board will look to everyone for comments and suggestions on the objectives, goals and requirements for this program.
  • KRPGA Master Guide Program. This is viewed as a means of honoring the leaders of our industry while also adding more credibility to our profession. Early thoughts suggest there be two levels of designation. There could be set criteria, an application opportunity and a review process. Your Board of Directors is working on this program and seeks your input. We will discuss this program further at upcoming meetings and in future newsletters.
  • G Loomis Guide Program. This program offers guides the opportunity to purchase the full line of Loomis rods at half off suggested retail. For more information on this program please see Scott or Brian at Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware or call G Loomis Pro Staffer Greg Brush, 262-6169.
  • Lamiglas Guide Program. This program offers qualified industry professional an opportunity to purchase Lamiglas rods and apparel at half off suggested retail. Your KRPGA membership is required. For more information, please contact Terry Specht at Lamiglas, (360)-225-9436 Ext. 213 or Lamiglas Pro Guide Mark Glassmaker, 262-0892.
  • Tempress/Fish On Guide Program. This program allows our membership to purchase several specialty items from Tempress/Fish On at or near cost. This will include their newest seat designs, rod holders, drink holders, and more. Products will be available through a local retailer and proof of KRPGA membership will be required. For further information on this program please see Scott or Brian at Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware or contact Fish On Pro Guides Mark Glassmaker or Greg Brush.
  • Peter Thompson at River and Sea Marine will provide members with a 10% discount on all parts and accessories (excludes serial numbered items) in his store. KRPGA urges members to show their support, by patronizing River and Sea Marine whenever possible.
  • KRPGA web site hosting.  Our most recent member benefit, the KRPGA can host your web site at a member reduced price of $75 per year.  This price is about 25% less than the cheapest hosting services on the internet.  You can keep the same URL that you currently use with no difference except a lower rate.
