The objective is the front lens size on scopes which gather light for rifle scopes. Most scopes for rifles have objectives in the range of 30-50mm. My primary rifles have scopes with 40mm objectives. Quality scopes provide more than enough light. If I have to rely on a little extra light from one of mine in order to take a shot at dawn or dusk I don't consider it a safe and won't fire the rifle. Keep in mind larger scopes objectives equals larger fronts of the scopes and the higher scopes must mount on the rifle.
More expensive isn't always the better quality rifle scopes. There are some excellent lesser known manufacturers of scopes for rifles on the market, however don't purchase the cheapest off the internet without researching the manufacturers of the scopes and the company selling the scopes. When buying rifle scopes I match the quality of the scopes I consider to the quality of the rifle. I wouldn't put a thousand dollar rifle scope on an old 30-30. Likewise a cheap scope on an expensive rifle. Scopes will help you aim the rifle, but the overall accuracy depends on the rifle.
Manufacturer warranty- Even the best scopes can develop problems.
Water and fog proofing of the scopes
Reticles- The crosshairs of the scopes. Do the models of scopes you're considering have the reticles you want?
Rifle- Will the rifle scope mounts fit your particular rifle.
Finish-Do you want your scopes finish to be a matte, high gloss or camo.
Adjustability - How detailed are the adjustments on the rifle scopes including the scopes windage and elevation along with focus and power settings of the scopes.
