Go to the Beach!

If you need a break from the busy downtown scene, do what we locals do – head for the beach. Sadly, many people visit Victoria and never get to see our lovely beaches all just a few minutes from the inner harbour. Here’s a few of our best white sand beaches.

Gonzales (Foul) Bay

Gonzales or “Gonzo” as it is known locally is one of Victoria’s best-kept secrets. It’s a wonderful beach with great sand to sunbathe in and make sand castles with. It’s a place for everyone to enjoy. On any afternoon you can see young boys skim boarding; a family on a kayak adventure, people playing Frisbee; swimmers or perhaps a group playing guitars and singing. It’s a joyous place to be. This is the beach that you can experience when you book our Victoria Bayshore Suite property.

Willows Beach

Willows is a family favourite that has something for everyone. The whole family can enjoy the sandy beach while the kids can easily find enough entertainment on either the beach or its adjoining playground.

Cordova Bay

Named in honour of the forty-sixth viceroy of New Spain, this beach is truly fit for a king. I am not sure that his Excellency Cordova ever got the sand of his namesake beach between his toes, but you can easily enough. Views towards Mount Baker and San Juan Islands.

Cadboro Bay

It is at this beach that you can see if you can spot the “Cadborosaurus” often described as the sister to the Lock Ness Monster. Cadboro Bay is a top spot to walk the sandy beach and if you have kids you will appreciate the great play area.
