The trip itinerary is outlined in general terms as it is both weather dependent and is also dependent on special interests of sailing participants. For example, recent whale sightings may dictate our direction, or onboard special guests’ expertise in native studies will enable us to explore local native culture and history. Gulf Islands trips may start from Victoria or Sidney - Desolation Sound trips start and end in Comox, BC.
A Sample Gulf Islands Itinerary
5 day ( Monday to Friday) trip:
- Monday: Depart at noon from Sidney. Sail the protected waters to Prevost Island. Drop anchor in a sheltered cove at Prevost Island.
Tuesday a.m. depart for Salt Spring Island. Sail into Fulford Harbour.
Tuesday p.m. explore Salt Spring Island, rent a bike, tour the local craft shops or take a picnic ashore. After a day of exploration, your gourmet dinner awaits you.
- Wednesday a.m. depart Salt Spring en route to Saturna Island.
Wednesday p.m. explore one of B.C.'s largest wineries, hike the scenic trails for spectacular vistas of the Gulf Islands.
- Thursday a.m. depart Saturna Island en route to Cabbage and Tumbo Islands.
Explore these island jewels, a unique ecosystem where you can hike the old growth oak groves and experience the untouched beauty at the edge of the Strait of Georgia.
Friday a.m. depart Saturna Island and sail down Haro Strait into Port Sidney. Lunch aboard the yacht, then disembark at 2:00 pm.
