Meet Our Crew

Southern Dawn Sailing Adventures Crew

Captain Pat McCooey

Pat was born and raised in Victoria and grew up 'messing about in boats'. He has extensive sailing experience (over 20 years) including 10,000 offshore miles. He built and launched a Fast Passage 39, has sailed from the Azores Islands to Gibraltar, and through the Mediterranean.

Pat sailed Southern Dawn II home to Victoria from Florida, through the Caribbean and the Panama canal, up the coast of Costa Rica and Mexico and California, U.S.

Pat has also skippered boats in: The Greek islands, The Kingdom of Tonga, The British Virgin Islands and extensively along the West Coast of Vancouver Island, the Gulf and San Juan Islands and Puget Sound. In all of his world sailing adventures Pat insists that this area of the Pacific Northwest is by far the most spectacular sailing territory! We'll do the sailing, but you can learn to sail on our 5-day trips -take the helm of a 60' performance yacht - feel the exhilaration of sailing, set your course and enjoy!

Cook and First Mate: Dawn   Dawn’s first passion is cooking, right next to her love of sailing. Dawn too, has extensive sailing experience and also brings with her a 25- year career in working with groups as a trainer and facilitator. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University and uses these skills to assist school and corporate groups with teambuilding workshops aboard Southern Dawn II.

Dawn also completed a gourmet cooking course – taught by the then chef of Government House and will delight you with her cooking repertoire!

The crew on Southern Dawn II make your comfort and enjoyment their priority!
