The North entrance to the Park is only a few miles from Diamond Lake, the
headwaters of the Umpqua River. Located at about 5000 foot elevation on Oregon
Highway 138 Diamond Lake offers trout fishing in spring and summer months and
snow sports in the winter months. Nestled between the Cascade Mountains of Mount
Bailey at 8,700 foot and Mount Thielsen at 9,185 foot.
Umpqua National Forest in Oregon can boast of the largest Old Growth Douglas Fir Forest in the World.
The Umpqua tumbles down the Cascades picking up more Cascade Mountain spring water as it moves to Lemolo Lake and Toketee Falls. Beautiful river landscapes and forests are the hallmarks of the North Umpqua as it moves toward the small town of Glide, Oregon. This area

accessed by highway 38 out of Roseburg, Oregon. Consider using on of our

The South Umpqua is known for
Winter Steelhead fishing.
Both river areas should be fished by experienced fishermen. The North Umpqua is tough
Fly fishing and a guide is recommended.
The South Umpqua can be treacherous to Drift Boaters during winter flows and requires good Drift Boating skills and river knowledge.

Wildlife Viewing
Near Reedsport a stop at
Dean Creek Wildlife Viewing Area is recommended. Several hundred Roosevelt Elk make there home here.
The Roosevelt Elk is the worlds largest elk and here you will see massive bulls battling for their harems in September and October.
Dean Creek Wildlife Area elk are completely wild and unfenced, an enjoyable, must see stop just 3 miles east of Highway 101
and Reedsport, Oregon on Highway 38.
Bird watchers will enjoy the Lower Umpqua Rivers feathered residence. Nice viewing in the
Dean Creek Wildlife Area.
Sand Dune Rides
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area
Out of Reedsport and Winchester Bay is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Here ATV's and Dune Buggies are allowed to have a blast throwing sand with their special paddle tires. Great family fun in the sand.

Winchester Bay
Ocean Charter fishing at the largest recreational salmon port
on the Oregon Coast. Located on the Southern Oregon Coast where the Umpqua River
meets the Pacific Ocean near the town of Reedsport, Oregon. There are a number
of Ocean Charter boats docked here. Winchester Bay has much to offer with great
clam digging and crabbing to go along with excellent
Ocean Charter fishing.

founded 1850 by Aaron Rose where Deer Creek flows into the South Umpqua River.
The name has nothing to do with the popular flower. It was incorporated in 1872,
and was home of the southern terminal of the Oregon & California Railroad.

beginning high in the Cascades to where it joins the Pacific Ocean at Reedsport.
