Mission: To increase awareness of diplomacy and the work of the Department of State through innovative exhibits and programs that inspire future leaders to become involved.

The worlds most traveled suitcase [State Department Photo].Vision: The Diplomacy Center will include innovative exhibits, educational programs that reach out to youth and an endowed chair to promote creativity and research in diplomatic studies.

Exhibits: With a virtual Passport to Diplomacy, visitors discover how today's diplomats keep pace in a fast changing world, explore America's diplomatic heritage, and learn how diplomacy affects them every day. Using innovative technology, visitors enter the world of diplomacy, complete a Mission and match skills with history's great negotiators in a virtual diplomacy theater. Visitors go behind the scenes at an embassy, travel the globe with the Secretary of State on a digital world map and join the ranks of citizen Ambassadors.

Education Programs: The Diplomacy Center's education and outreach programs provide future leaders the tools to compete in a fast changing world. Students learn about the global economy, conflict resolution and how foreign policy affects them every day. TravelingBoy looking at computer ,State Department Photo, exhibits, education outreach, and digital interactive workshops with today's decision makers, make diplomacy relevant and exciting. These programs help students prepare for America's future challenges.

Conferences and Symposia: The Diplomacy Center invites diplomatic scholars and practitioners to discuss trends and ideas in the new Department of State Conference Center. Diplomacy Center conferences and symposia present diplomatic solutions to today's pressing problems and prepare future leaders for careers in foreign affairs.

Endowed Chair in Diplomatic Studies: The Center's mission is to encourage a greater understanding of diplomacy and how it affects our daily lives. An endowed chair will promote scholarship and research to find creative solutions to today's diplomatic challenges.

The Marshall Plan Conference
James Kunder, Assistant Administrator for Asia and the Near East at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), gives the keynote address at the conference The Marshall Plan: Lessons for the 21st Century and Opportunities for Diplomacy Today.  The conference, sponsored by the United States Diplomacy Center, was held at the Department of State, February 9-10, 2006.
