"This is a wonderful bed-and-breakfast in an Edwardian town house. There are three bedrooms recently renovated to their original look. The location is very central [in the heart of the central business district]. The owners' enthusiasm for helping their guests was unlimited. There is a choice of three rooms, which all come with goose-down duvets and pillows."

Braemar on Parliament Street - in downtown Auckland - is a unique Bed and Breakfast...
...being the only Edwardian townhouse in the Auckland Central Business District still used as a residence. Built in 1901, it has been lovingly restored but with the addition of up to the minute technology for comfort and convenience.
It's the title shot in Geoff Murphy's Kiwi classic movie Goodbye Pork Pie. Our Kauri staircase dazzled in Don Selwyn's beautiful film Maori Merchant of Venice. In 2004, the BBC film Not Only But Always stars Braemar (alongside Rhys Ifans of Notting Hill fame). Where flyer Jean Batten's father Fred had his apartment upstairs is now our main guest suite.
Upstairs in the Batten Suite, a guest suite of three rooms, the bedroom is furnished with antique furniture and a queen size posturepaedic bed, separate tiled shower and toilet. The third room in the suite is a private lounge with heritage open fireplace, the couch folding out to sleep two when required. We also have two guest-rooms that share the original big bathroom.
Downstairs the original maid's room is now a cosy and quiet bedroom and has a private bathroom.
Wireless broadband available. All our bathrooms have restored old style large clawfoot baths and separate stand-alone tiled showers, served by continuous hot water gas burners. Heat lamps warm these areas as fans extract the steam. All toiletries are complimentary and we endeavour to offer the finest New Zealand made products available.
Being located by Auckland University means that cinemas, theatres, cafes, restaurants, the Skytower, the Ferry Buildings, the railway and bus stations, the Vector Arena and ASB Tennis Courts are all just a short walk away.
We share our home with two toy poodles and a small black cat.
