ABHPM Onlines Services Temporarily Suspended
|
The ABHPM Diplomate Onlince Services feature of the website has been temporarily suspended as we transition the site to its new home at the American Academy of Hospice and Pallative Medicine (AAHPM).
ABHPM Diplomates who need to update their information should call the ABHPM office at 301.439.8001.
After June 15, 2007, ABHPM Diplomates should call the AAHPM at 847.375.4712. (May 7)

What happened to the MOC Modules?
|
As part of the transition to an ABMS/AOA exam in 2008, the ABHPM Maintenance of Certification (MOC) self-assessment modules have been suspended. ABHPM diplomates will be supported through the full term of their certificate provided they keep a valid medical license current and maintain their underlying primary board certification. There are no other MOC requirements at this time.
The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) can provide information about continuing medical education opportunities and we expect the Academy to offer the MOC modules ina revised format later this year. (April 18)

Osteopathic CAQ in Palliative Medicine approved.
|
On February 16, 2007, the AOA board unanimously approved the BOS resolution to institute an osteopathic CAQ in Palliative Medicine. At this time, the members of the conjoint board are AOBIM, AOBFP, AOBNP, and AOBPNR. (February 19)

ABMS votes to make Hospice and Palliative Medicine an ABMS subspecialty
|
At 9:00 am September 19, 2006, the full Assembly of the American Board of Medical Specialties voted to establish an ABMS-sponsored subspecialty certificate in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. This action grants the discipline of Hospice and Palliative Medicine official status as a recognized subspecialty. (September 19)

ACGME officially recognizes Hospice and Palliative Medicine
|
On Monday June 26 the ACGME formally agreed to recognize Hospice and Palliative Medicine as a new discipline. The ACGME will begin to accredit one year training programs in Hospice and Palliative Medicine once program standards and processes have been finalized. (June 29)
