Southeast Alaska Lodge fishing season’s start mid spring with guided
and non guided fresh water fishing for steelhead. In May, schools
of King Salmon migrate from the Gulf waters into protected Islands off
the west coast of Prince of Wales Island. King Salmon are plentiful, and
multiple hookups are expected. In this bait rich water, it is common
to be fishing alongside Humpback whales, stellar sea lions and growing
numbers of sea otters. As June turns to July, schools of Coho salmon
arrive. Through the month of July it’s not uncommon to have
a King Salmon a couple of Halibut and a Silver salmon on at the same time.
As July progresses, the runs of Coho increase and the schools of King
salmon move down the coast toward their final destination. August
is great Silver fishing in Southeast Alaska; this is a wild time of the
year with double and triple hookups on our Alaska Lodge fishing trips
being common. Liberal limits assure you of fond Alaska Fishing Lodge memories
and fine eating for the year to follow. Proper care of your catch is paramount at the Fireweed Lodge. Upon landing your catch the captain will take first steps in caring for the fish. When returning to the lodge dock, we will document (take pictures) of your day’s bounty. The fish are cut to your specifications and vacuumed packed. Your day’s catch is then moved into our commercial grade blast freezers. Your frozen fillets are placed into wet lock boxes that you will take home as checked baggage. Upon returning home, you will find you have many new friends, some at the Fireweed Lodge and some that just want your fish! End of a Great Alaska Lodge DayTrue Alaska Lodge hearty Breakfasts and Alaska style dinners are served when you are ready. Lodge dining tables look out over the Klawock estuary. Sightings of eagle’s deer and bear enhance the Alaska Lodge experience. Private lodge rooms with baths, telephone and television service round out the fishing lodge accommodations. For the evening’s entertainment, we have a recreation room located upstairs with a wet bar, pool table, and card tables. Outside there is full-size basketball court, with horse-shoe pits on the side.
