Library policy documents

The Gateway allows Australian libraries to provide a direct link to the online editions of their key policy documents from within their individual ALG entries:

  • collection development policies
  • strategic plans
  • digitisation policies and projects
  • disaster plans
  • ILL/document delivery policies
  • service charters
  • preservation policies
  • Internet public use policies

When developing a policy for your library it is useful to review those produced by other, similar Australian libraries. Gateway users can find online editions of Australian library policy documents via the 'Advanced search' option - check the relevant box to limit your search (eg collection development policy) and you may also select a specific library type (eg University, School (K-12) or National/State/Territory) if you wish. If you can't find online editions of a particular library's policy documents, try searching their catalogue online.

Collection development: tools and references which may be of use to your policy development work are also available. Digitisation policies are only just starting to develop so, at this stage, information about these is included within the Australian digitisation projects online pages.
