Musee du Quai Branly
New museum dedicated to the arts of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas

One of the most exciting events on Paris'cultural agenda for 2006 is the opening of this ambitious new museum devoted to the arts and civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. Nearly ten years in the making, this elegant footbridge-like edifice designed by architect Jean Nouvel will encompass nearly 300 000 fascinating objects.
The building, which is surrounded by hundred of trees, also boasts a spectacular vertical garden featuring more than 15000 plants of 150 species. All of this makes the Musee du Quai Branly the perfect getaway for thtose wishing to momentarily escape the hurly-burly of the city while enjoying an introduction to, and understanding of the works, objetcs and artifacts of peoples and civilizations from far off lands.

For 1, 3, 5 days, the "Cartes Musées et Monuments" gives the bearer unlimited free access to 70 museums and monuments in Paris. No waiting line, either to buy tickets or to enter the place. The card can be purchased at any of the city's museums and monuments as well as main metro stations. Batobus stops, FNAC ticket counters and also at the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau.
