Choose the correct Fly Fishing Equipment

Your Fly Fishing equipment should have properly matching rods and reels with the same weighted line.

For example a nine weight rod would need a nine weight reel and a nine weight fly line. In order for you to cast easily and further with the least amount of effort it is important to use the properly matched fishing equipment.

When fly fishing you need to target medium size fish such as a 50 lb Tarpon, Snook or a large Dolphin and use 10 weight equipment. To be prepared for all opportunities it is best to set up three rods of different weights. You need to be rigged and ready with a specific fly for the different species that you may encounter.

Use a floating line in shallow water for those fish that feed on the surface.

A sinking line is for grouper, snapper or kingfish that are closer to the bottom. Backing extends the range that your fish can travel without stripping all the line off the reel.

Fishing Equipment Tips:

• Use the proper matching equipment
• Multiple rigged and ready
• Use the correct fly, leader and floating or sinking line
