Luxury Motor Yacht Captain - GilesTroulan (British)

Giles is an extremely experienced seaman who has been working in the luxury superyacht industry since 1992 on both private and charter yachts where his professionalism and charismatic nature have served him well. During this time he has visited most of the Mediterranean and Adriatic and for five years he was based in Asia, cruising Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong Malaysia and Indonesia. Giles has also worked as a delivery captain delivering yachts to and from South Africa, the Maldives and Red Sea as well as sailing from the Atlantic to the Caribbean navigating only by sextant. Prior to working on superyachts Giles was employed in the scuba diving industry in Australia on the Barrier Reef and Coral Sea for two years. He also spent four years on racing yachts competing on the European multi-hull circuit.

Giles has cruised extensively on Il Cigno since 2002 and has also managed several large refits to both extend the hull and maintain the yacht in pristine condition. His intention on board is to run a well maintained vessel with the safety and enjoyment of the guests being his primary objectives. In his spare time he enjoys snow-skiing, golf and scuba diving.

Luxury Yacht Chef - Lars Ryden (Swedish)

Lars is Il Cigno’s very own Swedish Chef. He has previously worked on board the highly successful luxury charter superyacht Santa Cruz Tres for two and a half years in the Mediterranean and Adriatic as well as the cruise liner Royal Viking Sun rated as number 1 in the world by Berlitz in 1995. He has 15yrs cooking experience prior to working on yachts having cooked for the United Nations taskforce in Macedonia for visiting politicians and foreign ministers as well as star restaurants in Sweden and France. All of his food, be it European, Asian or New World is outstanding. He has just completed a very successful summer on board Il Cigno where his food won praise from all and sundry. He is able to speak four langages; English, French, German and his native Swedish. In his spare time Lars likes eating and drinking (unsurprisingly for a chef!), he also enjoys snow skiing and mountain biking.

Luxury Yacht 1st Mate - Nicholas Street (British)

Nick joined the Il Cigno in Falmouth England in 2002 while the luxury motor yacht was being extended. Initially employed as a deckhand he was promoted to 1st Mate last year when the position became vacant. His outgoing personality and high motivation were key factors to him securing the position. Nick is a keen sailor who is happy to give any aspiring yachtsmen lessons on Il Cigno’s Topper dinghy.

Luxury Yacht Engineer - Andy Connolly (Australian)

Andy spent ten years in the Royal Australian Navy as an engineer. During this time he travelled throughout South East Asia and also worked as a sail training officer where he obtained his Yacht Master qualification. After leaving the Navy he spent nine months sailing from Australia to Europe where he joined his first Superyacht in 2001. Andy is very dedicated and takes pride in making sure Il Cigno is kept in full working order at all times. He is an excellent wake boarder and slalom skier.

Chief Stewardess - Kylie Jamieson (New Zealander)

Kylie has been working on luxury superyachts for the last five years. Originally from Nelson in New Zealand she moved to France in 1999 and has been there ever since. Kylie is always cheerful and smiling and genuinely enjoys interacting with Il Cigno’s guests to make their experience on board as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. In her spare time she likes to go mountain biking and snow boarding.

Luxury Yacht Deckhand - Johan Murray (Swedish)

Johan was born and bred in Sweden where he successfully completed his MSc degree in Business Administration and Economics but was soon tempted by a life at sea. He began his yachting career in the autumn of 2004 in Antibes and is proving to be a naturally gifted crew member possessing both practical and people skills. He has worked on both luxury motor and sail yachts as deckhand and joined motor yacht Il Cigno in November 2004. Johan already has numerous yachting qualifications including STCW-95 basic training, Yacht Master Diploma and Practical Boat Training Diploma. His easy going and helpful nature make him an ideal addition to Il Cigno's crew. Johan enjoys scuba diving and snow boarding.

Luxury Yacht Stewardess - Suzi Gladman (Australian)

Suzi has worked extensively in the hospitality industry in many areas of her native country- Australia. She has been based in Europe and the Caribbean for the last three years previously working on the 183 ft Luxury Motor Yacht Southern Cross. Suzi, like all Il Cigno’s stewardesses, is definitely a people person with a smile that would brighten anyone’s day. She is a keen scuba diver and tennis player and as with most of the rest of the crew she likes to snow ski.
