Mårten Mickos
CEO
Mårten Mickos joined MySQL AB as CEO in 2001. Under his leadership, the company has grown from a start-up to the second-largest open source company and the fastest-growing database vendor in the world. Prior to MySQL, Mickos held multi-national CEO and senior executive positions in his native Finland. He holds a M.Sc. in technical physics from Helsinki University of Technology.
Dennis Wolf
CFO and Executive Vice President
Dennis has over 25 years of experience managing finance and operations for high-growth technology companies. He is responsible for MySQL's worldwide finance, internal IT, accounting, HR, legal, and administrative operations. Prior to joining MySQL AB, he held CFO and senior executive positions at Omnicell, Redback Networks and Credence Systems Corporation. He also served in executive management roles at Sun Microsystems and Apple Computer, and currently sits on the board of directors for Vitria Technology and Komag, Incorporated.
Mark Burton
Executive Vice President of Sales, Channels and Alliances
Mark Burton is responsible for growing and managing MySQL AB's entire international corporate sales force, indirect channels and partnership alliances. He has 25 years of enterprise sales experience and a strong track record of developing global sales teams and achieving record results. While at Informatica Corporation he was senior vice president of Americas Sales and Alliances and eventually group vice president of Worldwide Sales and Alliances. He contributed to growing Informatica's company's annual revenues from $8 million to $154 million -- a significant contribution to Informatica's successful IPO and secondary offering. He has also held senior executive and field sales management positions at OuterBay Technologies, Oracle Corporation, DEC and Unisys.
Zack Urlocker
Executive Vice President, Products
As executive vice president of products, Zack Urlocker oversees the definition, development and promotion of the company's entire family of open source databases and tools. In addition to software engineering and product management, he is responsible for MySQL's worldwide marketing, sales-lead generation, public relations and Web site. Zack is a veteran technology executive, with more than 17 years' enterprise software industry experience. Prior to joining MySQL AB, Zack held executive product management and marketing positions at Active Software, webMethods and Borland International.
Kaj Arnö
Vice President of Open Source Community Relations
Kaj is responsible for communicating and evangelizing MySQL within the software development community -- as well as representing the community's interests to MySQL's senior management team. He has been with MySQL since 2001 in a variety of executive positions, including managing the company's relationship with SAP. Prior to MySQL, he founded and was CEO of Polycon Ab, a training and professional services provider in Finland and Germany. He began his professional programming career with Datema and IBM.
Ulf Sandberg
Vice President, Customer Services
A 20-year veteran of the professional services industry, Ulf Sandberg is responsible for MySQL's worldwide customer services organization, which includes customer support, training, consulting and certification programs. Prior to joining MySQL, he was vice president of Professional Services at Finaplex, an enterprise software company in the global financial services market. Before that, he played a critical role in helping Marimba grow from start-up to a successful IPO as Marimba's vice president, Field Services.
Clint Smith
VP General Counsel
As MySQL's general counsel and corporate secretary, Clint Smith is responsible for the company's legal affairs, including corporate law, intellectual property matters, commercial contracts, compliance, and litigation. Prior to joining MySQL, Clint headed the legal departments at Macromedia, Inc. and UUNET Technologies, Inc. He received his law degree at U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law and began his career with the Washington DC law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
Larry Stefonic
Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific
President, MySQL K.K. (Japan)
Larry Stefonic is responsible for the company's wholly-owned Japanese subsidiary and oversees its Asia Pacific sales channels. He has over 18 years of successful database business experience, including the introduction of three companies to the Japanese market. Prior to MySQL, Larry was in charge of Worldwide Embedded Sales at Mbrane in Seattle, Washington. He has also led international sales and business development teams at Centura Software, Raima Corporation and Micro Database Systems.
Kevin Harvey
Chairman
Kevin Harvey is a General Partner of Benchmark Capital. Kevin is a seasoned entrepreneur with a long track record of developing innovative technologies into successful enterprises. Prior to Benchmark, Kevin was founder, president and CEO of Approach Software where he led the development of the world's first end-user client/server database for Windows. Approach Software was purchased by Lotus Development in 1993.
Michael "Monty" Widenius
CTO and Co-founder
Monty Widenius is the designer and lead programmer for the MySQL database. His database software programming dates back to 1978 and his work with TCX DataKonsult AB, to 1981. Since 1995, Monty has been the primary force behind MySQL, devoting his time to product strategies, software design, and the development and reviewing of MySQL source code.
David Axmark
Co-founder and Vice President
David Axmark was involved with the MySQL database well before it had a name. David's primary focus now at MySQL is Open Source licensing and strategy, as well as community evangelism. He actively promotes Open Source software and MySQL at conferences and other venues around the world. Interested in free software since the early '80s, David is committed to developing a successful business model through Open Source software.
