Royal Lahaina Resort

Hotel Information:

Built in the 1960s amid 27-acres of tropical gardens facing Kaanapali beach, the casual Royal Lahaina honors the past with a tiki-style Hawaiian ambience of wicker, rattan, a canoe on display, Polynesian (pitched) rooflines, and a Don the Beachcomber bar. Celebrating couples, golfers, families, and other leisure travelers come here for privacy and service combined with proximity to a prime beach and the amenities of the Kaanapali Resort.

Insider tip:

A favorite destination for weddings, the Royal Lahaina invites couples to sign concrete tiles, which it then places on footpaths near the luau grounds.

The 27-acre Royal Lahaina Resort offers 447 guestrooms, available among the 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower and 23 one- and two-story cottages.

After a $30 million renovation (completed December 2006), updated Lahaina Kai Tower's guestrooms and suites feature custom-designed teak furnishings and natural materials, and state-of-the-art amenities. Guestrooms have Presidential Diamond Suite Plush Beds, with 330-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens. Amenities include 32-inch flat-panel HDTVs, sound systems with MP3 docking stations, cordless phones, and wired and wireless high-speed Internet access. Tower guestrooms also have coffeemakers, compact refrigerators, in-room safes, and air-conditioning. Private lanais, most with views of the Pacific Ocean, are included.

The resort’s original garden and oceanfront cottage guestrooms and one- and two-bedroom cottage suites, feature furnished lanais and casual island-inspired décor, including wicker and rattan furnishings. Cottage suites are equipped with a full kitchen. All accomodations have compact refrigerators, coffeemakers, safes, and air-conditioning. Dial-up Internet access is available.

All guestrooms are nonsmoking.
