What is the Safe Routes to School Movement?
Safe Routes to School (SRtS) is a national movement to increase the number of students walking and biking to school safely.
Through a collaborative community effort, SRtS programs typically address:
- the safety of our streets and communities
- the health and fitness of our children
- traffic congestion

Successful programs typically include:

Families: children, parents, guardians, neighbors, and extended family
- Schools: teachers, PTAs, administrators, staff
- Health Professionals: public health, school nurses, clinicians

Design Professionals: engineers, planners, artists and other designers
