PUBLIC AFFAIRS
The Office of Policy and Public Affairs coordinates the development of policy and planning documents for the Bureau of Consular
Affairs and works with the Department''s Bureau of Legislative Affairs on congressional relations and legislative issues.
The Office of Policy and Public Affairs functions as the Consular Affairs press office and carries out media relations, outreach,
and public information activities. This office is also the point of contact for Consular Notification and Access for arrested
foreign nationals.
The Office of Policy and Public Affairs can be reached by telephone at 202-647-1488. This office manages the Bureau’s policy and public affairs activities but does not have information for the public on visas,
passports, or other travel issues.
