Oregon Caves National Monument
Traffic & Travel Tips

The last 10 miles up to Oregon Caves are narrow and winding. It is extremely important that you stay in your own lane. There are many blind corners. Watch for traffic crossing into your lane and watch out for wildlife.

Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to the Monument without feeling rushed to catch the last tour of the day.  It could take you up to 30 minutes to reach the Monument from Greyback Campground which is located at mile post 12, seven miles from the Monument.

Be sure you have enough fuel for your vehicle because the nearest gas station is at least 15 miles from the Monument.

Winter Warnings

If you are traveling to Oregon Caves during November through March, please contact the Monument on snow conditions, and be aware that tours are seasonal.

Did You Know?
The stream that comes out of the entrance of the cave is a tributary to a watershed that empties into the Pacific Ocean. There are no human-made obstructions that would prevent salmon migration, which makes this the only cave in the National Park Service with an unobstructed link to the ocean.
