Stripers used in these striped
bass length weight charts were measured using their over all length. To
measure a striped bass properly lay the striper down flat on top of the
tape measure. Do not measure a striper by measuring across the fish, your
measurement will not be accurate. Measurements used here were taken as
greatest length, from tip of nose to tip of tail.

The best method to get an accurate weight of a live striped bass is still using a Boga Grip. Better would be a sling to hold the fish horizontally and then hang it from a scale, but that is impractical in the surf fishing environment. It's no longer necessary to kill the largest striped bass to get an accurate weight and photograph - the Boga Grip and digital camera will conserve more stripers than any other two tools we can name :-) |
