HMS Wasa (also Regalskeppet Wasa, or Vasa, of 64 guns) is a famous warship built for the Swedish Monarch Gustavus Adolphus of the House of Vasa, between the years 1626 and 1628. The ship's construction was plagued by interference from the King.
The king then insisted on the addition of a second gun deck. The resulting vessel was the best equipped and most heavily armed warship of its day, but one that was too long and tall for its width. The Wasa sunk 20 minutes after her launch in 1628. She was raised on April 24 1961 after 333 years on the sea bottom and completely restored, she now rest in the Stockholm Naval Museum.
