COSTA RICA:
Seasons in Costa Rica: Rainy Season & Dry Season
Seasons are not defined by drastic changes in Temperature; rather, they are
determined by the amount of rainfall. The Costa Rican "winter" is very
rainy, whereas the dry season, or what is know in Costa Rica as "summer",
tends to be much sunnier and drier. The rainy season lasts from May
through November and the dry season from December to April.
The Dry Season is not always dry and the rainy season is not necessarily
wet. Costa Rica is a tropical land where the rains and sunshine
intermingle. During the dry season, it may eventually rain. During the
rainy season mornings are generally very bright and sunny and afternoon rain
showers are common every day.
Costa Rica Tropics:
The country's climate is characterized by heavy rain that does not normally
last long, or more constant rainfall lasting all night (or all day) long.
Temperature changes are mostly determined by altitude rather than by season
or amount of rainfall. The weather is, on the whole, quiet unpredictable.
Humidity:
Costa Rica is a very humid country. In some regions relative humidity can
reach 90% (especially on the Atlantic coast). The North Pacific is less
humid, but areas such as Arenal, Corcovado and Quepos, as well as the entire
Caribbean coasts are quite damp.

ECUADOR:
Weather in Ecuador is fairly stable and travelers can visit the country year
round. Some areas are better to visit certain times of the year, but there
are no months when one should not travel in the country do to weather.
Ecuador Mainland
Only about the size of Colorado, Ecuador has a surprising variety of
climates, and because of Ecuador's unique geography the weather can be very
localized. The weather also has a tendency to change very quickly.
The Sierra (Mountains)
In the sierra, the dry season is from June to September with average
temperatures around (68°F/20°C). Meanwhile, in the middle of a dry season,
the western sierra will be struck with strong winds, little rain and higher
temperatures. For the rest of the year, the sierra is often marked by sunny morings
with cloudy and sometimes rainy afternoons.
The Amazon
With the rainy season ranging from September to April and average
temperatures at (84°F/28°C), the Amazon basin is what you would expect of a
tropical rainforest, wet. Raining most days in the afternoon the Amazon
basin is truly a rainforest. From May to August the average temperature
increases to around (90°F/32°C) along with the frequency of the rainfall.
The Coast
On the much drier coast, the dry season runs from about June to December
with a temperature drop to about (79°F/26°C). The garua, a damp mist, has
a tendency to cast itself over the coastline and the sun. The sun can
disappear for three months at a time. Then in January to June temperatures
go up and despite the occasional heavy rain, the days will be bright and
sunny.

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS:
From our experience there is not a bad time to visit the Galapagos Islands.
Every month of the year is a good time to travel to the region. The
Galapagos Islands, though under the equator, are not as hot as you might
think because of cool water currents. In fact, they have a climate very
similar to California with warm days, cool nights, and a low humidity.
December through June is the warmer time of the year, and the sea tends to
be warmer too. The islands also receive more rain and plenty of sunshine,
blue skies, and light rains. From June or July through November, is the dry
season or the garua "light misty rain" season. The mist forms in the
highlands providing more moisture than the rainy season ever did. The skies
are cloudier and the temperature is lower at around (64°F/18°C).
