FISHING FOR SALMON IN 2007
There has been a
NEW
SUITE OF SALMON & SEA TROUT CONSERVATION MEASURES
INTRODUCED
FOR 2007
which may affect where you can fish for Salmon this season. Please
familiarise yourself with these as they are very important. Presently the
only Fisheries in the Shannon Region open to Salmon fishing are the River
Feale in Co Kerry and the River Mulcair in Co Limerick. Both these
fisheries are subject to quota restrictions, bag limits and permitted
angling methods as part of the overall conservation measures.
IMPORTANT
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ANGLERS - BROWN TAGS
From May 13th, 2007 the Minister introduced a system of Brown Gill
tags for certain rivers where it is considered necessary in the
interests of conserving stocks to closely monitor angling quotas to
ensure river based quotas are not exceeded. The River Mulcair in Co
Limerick is covered by this scheme.
