The Alaska Department of Fish and Game includes the Office of the Commissioner, the Boards Support Section, and five divisions; Wildlife Conservation, Sport Fish, Commercial Fisheries, Subsistence, and Administrative Services.

Commissioner Denby Lloyd was officially appointed by Governor Sarah Palin on February 3, 2007. The Commissioner is ADF&G's principal executive officer responsible for the protection, management, conservation, and restoration of Alaska's fish and game resources.

The Division of Sport Fish's mission is to protect and improve Alaska's recreational and personal use fisheries. This includes stock assessment, management, hatchery production, access development and maintenance, habitat assessment and permitting, information and education, enforcement and planning and survey activities.

Commercial Fisheries

The Division of Commercial Fisheries is responsible for management of the state's commercial, subsistence, and personal use fisheries. The mission of the division is to manage, protect, rehabilitate, enhance, and develop fisheries and aquatic plant resources in the interest of the economy and general well-being of the state, consistent with the sustained yield principle and subject to allocations established through public regulatory processes.

The Division of Wildlife Conservation is responsible for Alaska's wildlife and habitats. The division facilitates the regulation process and provides research, management, information, and education to enhance and conserve wildlife populations and provide a wide range of public uses and benefits.

Subsistence

The Subsistence Division provides research information to facilitate management and regulation for customary and traditional use of wild resources for communities and cultures of Alaskans.
