World Class Offshore Fishing - Nags Head, NC Outer Banks
Offshore fishing during october, november, and december provides the best bet for catching yellowfin tuna, big-eye, and bluefin all in the same trip. 2006 was one the best outer banks fishing seasons in ten years providing many days limits catches of yellowfin, Big-Eye, and nice Wahoo, along with the occasional blue marlin bite.
A typical Gulf Stream Fishing Charter begins at 4:45 at Broadcreek Marina with a 60 minute ride offshore to the fishing grounds. The Oregon Inlet Fishing grounds are 31 miles away and experience is a must when navigating to the offshore fishing grounds. Offshore fishing in the outer banks is mostly based on temperature breaks and clean water changes as the gulf stream current pushes the breaks and changes in towards shore. Reading the water is very important, as current, color, temperature, bait, and of course birds all are signs that fish may be close at hand. On any day fishing in North Carolina, you will can see many different types of marine life, such as whales, porpoise, turtles, sharks, and Atlantic sunfish. Our trolling spread consists of naked ballyhoo, ballyhoo skirted with sea witches, spreader bars , deep rigs run off either downriggers or planers, and pitch baits for Blue Marlin. Yellowfin Tuna and Big-Eye Tuna are very aggressive, often competing for the same bait, so multiple hook-ups are typical. It seems the fish have a sense of seasons changing in the fall, with the cooler air over the warmer Gulf stream water. Our day ends up at back at Broadcreek Marina, not far from the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, where professional fish cleaners are waiting. Please join us in Nags Head, just north of the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, for an unforgettable Gulf Stream Fishing experience. |
