The March on Washington Exhibit
Opens to Public on July 20, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Department of the Interior Museum will open the exhibit Witness to History: The March on Washington on July 20, 2007. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

On a hot and muggy August 28 in 1963 hundreds of thousands of American people marched around the National Mall to protest for civil rights, desegregation and federal programs to end poverty. This was the great March on Washington which ended that afternoon with the “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. David M. Granahan, an employee of the Department of Agriculture, took the day off to document the marchers and he captured the activities with his watercolor and ink sketches. " moreMore
