Join Alaska Adventures
Lodge and internationally renowned wildlife
photographer, John
Hyde, on one of our Alaska Photography Workshops. Alaska Adventures Lodge has guided bear
viewers and wildlife photographers for years and is exited to team up with
professional photographer John Hyde. These photography workshops will appeal to
inspired amateurs as well as professionals who wish to photograph Alaska’s wild
brown bears in their natural habitat. The 2007 Alaska Brown bear photography
workshops are committed to providing and educating photographers who wish to
explore both the technical and artistic concepts of wildlife photography while
working under comfortable conditions in the Alaskan wilderness. In Addition to
acquiring exiting, dramatic and evocative images of our primary subject, the
Alaskan Brown bear, digital workflow and processing will be discussed as well.
With a true reverence towards nature, our workshops are committed to not
interrupting and disrupting the natural balance and order of every day life for
the creatures we'll seek to photograph. Fueled by inspiration, every single day
on the river will be a new and eye opening adventure. Timed with the enormous
salmon runs of the Bristol Bay region, Alaska Adventures Lodge provides the
mobility and accommodations in prime bear viewing locations. John Hyde who has
photographed professionally in Alaska for almost 30 years will engage your
imagination, rekindling a passion for your photography and in turn helping you
build a breathtaking visual diary of self-expression. These workshops hearten
photographers to create work that truly “BEARS” their signature and encourages
group members to make images that flow from their hearts & souls, as well as
their eyes.
Location: Alaska Adventure Lodge will act as the Alagnak River base camp
providing participants with excellent opportunities to observe and photograph
brown bears in various locations along the rivers and lake shores of Katmai
National Park and Preserve. Jet boats as well as outcamps or spike camps will
be utilized for overnights in prime bear viewing locations along the river.
Accommodations:
The lodge has private riverfront cabins, hot showers, flush toilets,
wonderful
staff, and culinary excellence. Base camp accommodations will provide everything
required for our photographic and physical requirements, including access to
electric outlets 12 hours a day. Remote camps will not include access to
electricity.
Equipment: All photographic equipment, including battery power supplies,
chargers, storage media and film will be the responsibility of each
participant. Tripods and at least one telephoto lens between 300 and 600 mm is
recommended in addition to whatever other equipment is desired. Laptops are
recommended for those working with digital capture. Clothing capable of
withstanding the rigors of the Alaskan wilderness are recommended for your
comfort and safety.
