Learn to tie basic
fishing knots
A surprising number of anglers have never learned how
to tie simple fishing knots to secure fish hooks or lures to their
line. If you’re one of them, chances are you’ve lost your fair
share of hook and bait set-ups or a favorite lure in a snag or trying
to haul in a catch. Tying basic fishing knots is not
complicated, and you should learn a few of them. You will
definitely hang on to more of your fish hooks and prized lures if you take the time.
Here are a few
fishing knots to practice
Probably the most common of the fishing knots used by
fishermen across all angling disciplines is called the Centauri. It’s
used primarily to secure fish hooks and lures to the line, and is
popular because it’s easy and very strong.

Another of the basic fishing knots used by many anglers
is called the Palomar. Also used to fasten fish hooks and lures
securely to the line, this knot is quick and offers rugged strength.

A good choice in fishing knots for a variety of uses is
the Uni Knot. This method will not only attach fish hooks and lures
to your line, but also swivels and rings.

Finally, sometimes you’ll require fishing knots to connect a line to
fish hooks or lures with an up- or down-turned eye. The best knot for
this purpose is called the Hook Snell.
