People notice me, not my amputation when I wear my electric hand covered with a LIVINGSKIN® glove.
My prosthesis looks so natural that even when I'm wearing short sleeves and the socket is visible, some people don't believe it's not real! I even had a salesman at a kiosk in the mall try to demonstrate hand cream on my prosthesis!
I recently spoke to a group of high school students and their teacher forwarded their reflection essays to me. One of the students wrote, "I am sort of ashamed to say this, but at the beginning of class I kept staring at her fake hand. I could have sworn the fingers were real! I had almost convinced myself that they saved her real hand and they preserved it somehow."
