BREAM SHOWING AGAIN IN NUMBERS
AS WATER LEVELS GRADUALLY RECOVER FROM SEVERE FLOODING
Coarse angling has stepped up a gear as water levels
slowly recover from the bad flood conditions of previous weeks,
although there was a slight rise again following some heavy rain
over the bank holiday weekend. Drumbad Lake in the Upper
Shannon was a hotspot with quality Tench reported. Lough Allen is
still in the angling news with good weights coming off Heron's and
Barney's shores in the local competitions. The Bream fishing has
really improved in the last ten days on the Strokestown and north
Longford lakes with some of the catches reaching 100lbs. Some good
Bream catches were reported in the Suck Valley, despite the very
high water. The mid Shannon around Banagher has fished well, also
Rogers island at Portumna is throwing up good weights. The Lough
Derg island swims around Killaloe are starting to fish again and
worth a try. Login to our next report which will not be until the
end of August due to holidays. Meanwhile happy angling and TIGHT LINES!

PIKE ANGLING QUIET OVER RECENT WEEKS
NOT HELPED BY THE FLOOD CONDITIONS IN PLACES
Constant high water has hampered the pike fishing in
many locations over recent weeks with little angling feedback
received. The Ladies pike competition hosted by the Athlone Anglers
Association is the next competition, scheduled for the 19th August on
the Shannon. Dermot Killeen keeps us up to date on Pike fishing around
Shannonbridge and the river Suck. Join us for our next report at the
end of August.
