Stuff a Camper 2006 (Venice, LA)
Sportfishermen.com members raised and donated the following to fishermen families in Venice, Louisiana: 3 campers, food, boxes of toys, candy, clothing, appliances, tools, eight bycicles, material to put a shrimper with a destroyed boat back on the water to provide for his family (aluminum, fiberglass, resin and wood), wood to fix boats, fishing tackle, gift cards and much more. Result: brought smiles to over 100 proud people who may not have smiled in over six months. Capt. John Eppehimer, owner of Sportfishermen.com, spent 6 months in LA working and helping families. Hundreds of pictures and videos were posted in a special forum.

The Arc of Atlantic County Ocean Fishing Day 2006
Mike Lawrence posted the info about this event here on the site and Capt. John Eppehimer wanted to be a part of it. Dave Bowman and Capt. John Eppehimer ran around boat to boat and shot a few hundred pics of the anglers. When you check out the pictures you will see the smiles on all these guys and girls faces and that was the most rewarding part of this day, making people happy.

World Record Mediterranean Snapper - SeaBiscuit posted a picture of Captain Yannis Galiatsos of Astakos, Greece next to his unofficial world record Mediterranean snapper. The fish was caught across the Astakos harbor three years ago (Captain Galiatsos was about 80 at the time). The fish fell for a fresh dead mullet fished on a handline. It weighed 16.2 Kilos or about 36 lbs. Captain Galiatsos, who is SeaBiscuit’s uncle, had his life as a subsistence commercial fishermen shared with Sportfishermen.com in this inspirational thread.
Fishing Tips - WAHOONBOX held a contest in March 2005 and Sportfishermen.com members posted over a hundred fishing tips.
A look into commercial gill netting - Admin read an article about striped bass being seeing floating belly-up after a gillnetter dumping them from their nets. Since he personally have never been on a commercial fishing vessel of any type, commenting on this subject with the members would really be impossible... so jumped onboard at 4 AM and took the ride to learn about gill netting.
